Hi Brad, congratulations on the VX-8R!? I can't help you with any
specific settings, but any time I purchase a used programmable
radio I perform a reset once I have determined the TX and RX basic
functions work properly.

I’m not new to the VX series HT’s, I
used to own a VX-7R a few years ago and was my GoTo Handheld
