CHIRP difficulties with loading a code plug into an FT60R
k6whp
I checked the previous messages (perfunctorily) and did not see a direct answer to this question so my apologies for any repetition. In attempting to modify a code plug (add frequencies) to my FT60R, I thought I'd give? Chirp a whirl.
It read the data from the radio accurately and without incident. However, when I attempted to write the data back out to the radio, the dialog comes up with the vendor and model edit boxes disabled. Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks in advance! -- William, K6WHP "Cheer up, things could get worse..so I cheered up and, sure enough, things got worse!" |

开云体育Hi When. I upgraded to win10, I could not use CHIRP anymore.? I had the error you describe and others not recognizing port. I tried different cords. Nope. Some folks said I needed to go back to older drivers and others said I had to get newest drivers. Thinking I will next try a new computer that started with win10 and was not an upgraded one.? If I get it to work I will post the solution. Kk4GOW? On Dec 23, 2018, at 1:20 PM, k6whp <k6whp@...> wrote:

Folks,
Firstly, a Merry Christmas and best wishes for a happy new year to all and thank you all for your advice! Note that I believe this to be an idiosyncrasy of the software and not a driver problem My description was perhaps too brief. Let me enlarge on the circumstances. The symptom I was reporting was that the "the upload to radio" dialog came up with the Vendor and Model edit boxes coming up disabled and for some reason the "OK" button was disabled as well. In fiddling with the software this morning, it allowed me to click OK which sent me to the upload instruction dialog. Following instructions, I dutifully clicked through it, got the radio into "CLONE" mode, and pressed the "MON" button whereupon the software reported a communication error. This was done several times without success. I posted a series of pictures on my blog that show what I am talking about. https://righthandofzod.blogspot.com/2018/12/merry-christmas-and-chirp-my-ass.html Let's leave it at this: it's a wonderful piece of freeware but I am not presently disposed to track down and resolve why it will not write to my FT60R. I do not plan on rolling back any drivers, install any operating system patches or get any new cables. The main reason is that I already have Bob Freeth's marvelous programs for each of the Yaesu radio types I own (an FT60R, 2 VX-150s, an FT7900, an FT2900, and an FT-817) and they work flawlessly. Were I not so bountifully appointed, I would pursue a resolution more diligently. My sincere thanks to one and all! -- William, K6WHP "Cheer up, things could get worse..so I cheered up and, sure enough, things got worse!" |
No need to purchase the RT system There is two ways to upload the Ft 60 into chirp, look in the chirp help file as it explain both options, as I had the same issue.? On Tue, Apr 2, 2019, 7:44 PM Anon Anon <lecontejoe@...> wrote: Get the RT Systems programming software and cable. |
My solution to getting Chirp to work with my three FT-60's was to get a better cable.? I purchased a cable which used an FTDI chip rather than a Prolific chip for the USB to serial conversion.? I haven't had any problems since.? The cable I'm using is sourced from KJ6ZWL via Amazon (). His company name on Amazon & eBay is "Bluemax49ers".? I've purchased several cables from him and not been disappointed.
