Instantly check frequency of a alphanumeric memory?

Hello,

On my Yaesy VX-6 when in memory mode, when I press the Moni button , squelch opens and at the same time the memory name changes to the frequency of that memory. So if you have a stored memory with an Alphanumeric name but you don't remember the frequency of it you can see it instantly with a momentary press on the Moni button.

Is there a way to do this on a FT-60 ?

I had a look at the manual and tried various key combinations of buttons but couldn't find something.

Thank you

Hi dear friend.

Yes you may, in your FT60 you simply press "band" key and you may check the frequency in your memory, additional you may check in its neighborhood tuning trough the VFO dial, and the frequency shift it's made from the memory content.

I also had a VX-6 and have often wished that my FT-60 had that feature as well.

The best you can do is to program the P1 or P2 button on the keypad to bring up the NAME function from the set menu.

Once programmed, briefly press the F/W key and then whichever "P" key you programmed. Then turn the main knob to select Alpha or Freq. Press the F/W key or PTT to exit. Your Alpha/Freq selection is on a per memory basis (not global) and will remain in effect for that memory until you change it back.

This method saves having to access the NAME function in the Set Menu (Press F/W, Press Set, Turn Main knob to "NAME (menu #27), Press F/W, turn Main knob to select Alpha or Freq, Press PTT to exit).

It only saves a couple of keystrokes and one instance of having to fiddle with the Main knob, but it helps.

FYI, on the other "P" key I've programmed "DC VLT" (Menu #12) so that with two quick key presses I can see the actual battery voltage.

If I remember properly, there are 2 programmable buttons (P1, P2). ?Set one of those up to do that. ?Check the manual on how.

If you briefly press the BAND button it will enter into "tun" mode to tune the frequency. This means it will display the current frequency as well. I use this as a quick shortcut, you can then press BAND again to leave "tun" mode.

The other thing you can do is just name the channel with the freq numbers, less the decimal, for those channels you use all the time. ?

The feature exist, when you have a channel that is in NAME more, for example on my radio, I have a named channel called CRA460.? If you press the BAND button (lower right, next to the F/W button), it changes to the frequency, in my example, it now shows 145.460.? You will notice that it goes into tuning mode, not to worry, it goes back to member mode when you press the BAND button again.

Hope this helps.

When I'm in memory mode and want to see the frequency behind the label
I've assigned, I just tap the "Band" button (which puts the radio in
"Tune" mode). Tap "Band" again to exit "Tune", and go back to viewing
the label.

Does that do what you're trying to accomplish?

John,

I've owned FT-60's almost continuously since they came out in the early 2000's and never knew that.

Yes if you press the BAND button (between the 0 and the F/W). It will toggle between frequency and Alphatag.
