Re: Electrolytics - FT-101B
The wire wound resistors were OK. I cleaned the flying lead contacts and pins on tubes and tested the drive tube, which was OK. No tester was available for the PA tubes. Re-installed tubes and

Re: Electrolytics - FT-101B
I ran into similar discrepancies when I resurrected my 101E after nearly 30
years in storage. The comments I got back from reputable service people was
that tables were "generally accurate" but not to

Re: Electrolytics - FT-101B
Check to see if the wire wound .6ohm resistor, located on the bottom of the power tube sockets, has been blown open from excessive current.
if yes, you might have bad power tubes too.

Theses relays are not hard to find on eBay.
Not sure I’d bother with tearing into rewiring that socket!!

Ye Olde RL1
Looking for a replacement for RL1. I think the one in my FT101B has the "tired spring" mentioned in the service manual.? Potter & Brumfield part R10-E1X6-V90 looks like it might work with a bit of

Re: Good Rx/No tx
Tom, I value and appreciate moral support. Helps keep up the fighting spirit. I am hoping that I can get the original NEC tubes tested tomorrow to rule them out. I have new C13, C131 and C11 mica caps

Good Rx/No tx
Wish I could offer more than moral support, but I' m fighting the same issue with a 101B.? Every time I correct one thing it uncovers something else.? Bad rectifier board, dirty relays, mismatched

FT-101EE: Good RX-No TX
I have been away from this project a while and I am eager to get back to work on diagnosing and repairing the TX issue. This FT-101EE receives beautifully, and the S-meter seems to work properly in

Re: FT-101 only transmits on 40m
Will look into it but is there a separate alignment for each band?
I can receive ok to some degrees in these bands where I have no output power.
Will browse through the service manual soon.

Re: FT-101 only transmits on 40m
Looks like they are all there. Didn't pull it out to examine.
I am receiving ok on other bands actually. I noticed they are a bit quieter than on 40m but I can receive enough.

Re: FT-101 only transmits on 40m
Try going through the Rx & Tx alignment procedure.
It might be that the trimmer capacitors need to be touched up correctly to provide drive to the finals.

Re: FT-101 only transmits on 40m
Take a look at the Heterodyne crystal board visible on the top chassis near the right front of the radio. Are all the crystals there?

FT-101 only transmits on 40m
Hi,
I got this FT-101 about 2 years ago. I went through some checks to make sure tubes were neutralized and no obvious burned parts. Still has original tubes
It seems to transmit and receive quite

Ello Tom,
I had the same problem and I found that it was the Speech processor.
Check it out, if its not your relay.
Good luck.

Dang it.? Me again.
Got my 101B working.? Made QSO's in New Hampshire and Mississippi from VA. Then it stopped modulating USB and LSB.? Still puts out signal on tune and AM. Back to the service

My FT101B originally belonged to my dad.? I put it on the air every month or so, always on CW.? Decided to recap it to learn more about the radio and get better at soldering in tricky situations.?
