Also, since it happens on 10m, 12m and 15m, I would suspect an issue with the actual display board or VFO board ?
I have had to remove these VFOs a few times over the years and remove the VFO cover, ?to just resolder every single joint on them to get the display to work right again.?

I’m pretty sure if it is showing MHz ?off, but is actually transmitting and receiving at the right frequency … it has nothing to do with the new 10m crystals.?
The older display units had toggle switches on them that mix signals to give you the right offset displays.?
Maybe better check that out in case it is adjustable.?

Reconversion from 11M Local Oscillator alignment
I have a FT-101ZD late Mk2 that had been converted to 11M years ago.? I recently got around to locating the correct crystals and have aligned the TX mixer, driver and RX front end stages per the service manual.? I get good output on all bands and good sensitivity as well.??
However, when transmitting on 15, 12 and 10 meters with more than a few watts of output, the VFO shows an incorrect frequency - several MHz low, not always the same.? Checking the output on another radio shows the transmitted signal is where it should be, so it's the VFO that is displaying the wrong frequency.??
I suspect I need to align the premix local board where the proper crystals have been installed, but the service manual is a bit brief in it's description of the process.??
Does anyone have a "cheat sheet" for this, or perhaps someone has done a video?? I have an oscilloscope, and could whip up a simple RF probe if needed.??

The Fox Tango Club used to have a laminated sheet with Top/Bottom of a FT 101 with alignment points indicated.
Does anyone have a digital copy of this document they could send me ? Is it still available to buy ?

FT-101EE installing Processor board PB-1534
I just got a FT-101EE. It has the PB-1534 Processor board installed. It works good except :
When in transmit and the meter is in the ALC position, there is no movement of the meter. Yes I have turned the mic gain up CW. I tried adjusting the ALC on PB-1184? but it makes no difference . ?The needle is pined to the right.?
I read where the ALC adjustment is located on PB-1534. I can move VR2 and it does move the needle to the left, but still no 'uptick' when I modulate USB
Are there issues with installing the PB-1534 in a FT-101 EE? ?? Are there any instructions for installing? the PB-1534 in an EE ?

The wire wound resistors were OK. I cleaned the flying lead contacts and pins on tubes and tested the drive tube, which was OK. No tester was available for the PA tubes. Re-installed tubes and everything worked.
Completed the Rx and Tx alignment process and started 'on air' testing. Power out is low, (20 to 80 watts)? and Rx and TX frequencies do not match. (People have said 'You are off-frequency' every time I've made contacts on this radio.)? I have seen videos on fixing the latter issue and will try to locate matching tunes to get power level up.?
This thing is slowly rejoining the land of the living, but I have to say that using it makes me appreciate my TS590sg!

I ran into similar discrepancies when I resurrected my 101E after nearly 30 years in storage. The comments I got back from reputable service people was that tables were "generally accurate" but not to be considered to be dead on. As long as they were steady and nothing seemed to be "suffering" they were OK.

if yes, you might have bad power tubes too.?

Theses relays are not hard to find on eBay.?
Not sure I’d bother with tearing into rewiring that socket!!

Looking for a replacement for RL1. I think the one in my FT101B has the "tired spring" mentioned in the service manual.? Potter & Brumfield part R10-E1X6-V90 looks like it might work with a bit of wiring change.? Interested to hear if anyone has tried this and what the result was.

Cleaned contacts in both relays with card stock and deoxit. Both were visibly dirty. Fired radio up and receive is OK, but I could not get any idle current in Tune mode. I checked rectifier board supply lines and saw:
+748v (vs +600v theory) -180.7v vs -100v theory +182.3v vs +150 v 11.5v AC is 10.5v AC +14.2v vs +13.5v
Yikes!
No sign of damage anywhere. Re-seated relays, but no change. Checking tube now.? The PA tubes are different brands, so I'm guessing all 3 will be replaced before aligning the thing. But right now the big thing seems to be weirdness with power.
I feel snake-bit. Suggestions, anyone?

A source of Tx problems is often Q3 (2sc784R) at PB 1181B RF unit.

Tom, I value and appreciate moral support. Helps keep up the fighting spirit. I am hoping that I can get the original NEC tubes tested tomorrow to rule them out. I have new C13, C131 and C11 mica caps in hand that I know I should change, but I’ve been a bit intimidated by getting to C13. Looks like the face has to come off to remove the chassis side bar to get in there. I don’t believe this echo-echo has been touched by a #2 Phillips or a soldering iron since it left Japan. Wish I could offer more than moral support, but I' m fighting the same issue with a 101B.? Every time I correct one thing it uncovers something else.? Bad rectifier board, dirty relays, mismatched PA tubes.? Looks like this could be a long running project!

Will look into it but is there a separate alignment for each band?? I can receive ok to some degrees in these bands where I have no output power. Will browse through the service manual soon. VA3GPJ

Looks like they are all there. Didn't pull it out to examine. I am receiving ok on other bands actually. I noticed they are a bit quieter than on 40m but I can receive enough.

Try going through the Rx & Tx alignment procedure.
It might be that the trimmer capacitors need to be touched up correctly to provide drive to the finals.

I got this FT-101 about 2 years ago. I went through some checks to make sure tubes were neutralized and no obvious burned parts. Still has original tubes
It seems to transmit and receive quite fine on 40m. I only had 40m dipole so didn't bother to transmit on other bands.
This year, I got an old tuner, so put up a simple long-wire antenna.?
Again, 40m seems to be fine, I was able to get QSOs on CW and SSB.
But I realized there is no output power on other bands. IC goes up and down as per the "carrier" knob. But on PO meter setting nothing comes out. Nor can I see it on my power/SWR meter. (again 40m it seems to work as it should).
I am a bit stumped. What would you suggest I look at first?
