FT-101EE voltage measurements
Hello group,
I have an FT-101EE and am wanting to measure the various voltages off the main transformer. What type of voltmeter is needed as far as ohms/volt is concerned? I own several. VTVMs, modern DVMs, Simpson 260 etc. Which is needed to get the most accurate reading?? I see no annotation on the schematic Thanks Mike |
Re: FT-101Z Tuning Issue
开云体育I agree with the below Until you can solve the meter issue you could try: At plate dip, power out should be max – measured on external power/swr meter - provided the final tubes are aligned ok Then you can maximise PO with preselect and load on the same external meter ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Alistair GM4ENF via groups.io ? Your description of the procedure you carried out is not too clear.? when you worked through the tuning/loading process did? the equipment respond as it should?? ie load giving an Increase in Ic followed by dip when adjusting tuning.? If so have you checked using another meter/device to see if there is any output irrespective of what the PO meter is showing??? |
FT-101ZD changing the 2.3KHz SSB filter for a 2.7KHz filter?
Would changing the SSB filter to a 2.7KHz filter improve RX audio quality on SSB / AM?
Sadly the 101ZD has no switchable filter for AM / SSB and I've got a spare 2.7KHz Yaesu filter 'flying' around. I heard that 2.3.KHz on TX SSB is preferable to 2.7KHz? Thanks for the input |

Re: FT-101Z Tuning Issue
开云体育I had an FT-101B that had been in storage for over 20 years and fired it up. ?At first it worked and then didn’t. ?I found that there were two small diodes in the power supply that had died, actually physical broken. ?I replaced these and all was well. ?If I remember, I think they were in the enclosure that surrounds the output tubes. —碍别苍辞濒颈

FT-101Z Tuning Issue
Hi All,
Having trouble with my FT-101Z. ?It has been on storage for about two years and was working before this. I have forgotten a lot about using it. ?During the Final Tuning procedure, the PO meter stays at 0 and does not move. The earlier tuning step, the IC meter behaves as expected. Any ideas? Thanks! |
For Sale: FT-101zd
THIS IS STILL AVAILABLE AND STILL A GOOD DEAL! ?I have an FT-101ZD for sale. ?It's in excellent working condition and about 8/10 cosmetically. ?It will also come with an outboard second VFO. Photos available upon request. ?I bought this from a friend who did extensive renovation. ?He's an expert in the repair of these old rigs. ?I had thought that I'd use it more than I have, and it's become excess to my needs. ?I will sell the rig and external VFO for $550, plus actual professional packing and shipping charges. ?The rig also comes with a manual and a Yaesu hand mic. ??If you've been looking for one of these old classics, you probably can't find a better one. ?I greatly prefer PayPal for payment. Interested buyers please email me off list at carl --at-- mycallsign --dot-- com. ?-- 73 de Carl N8VZ

Undoing AM modification to restore CW operation
I am trying to un-modify an FT-101 EE to restore CW operation in a radio that has an AM filter and the mode switch modification installed. Everything seems to be OK from the pictures and directions in the service manual as far as restoring CW operation. I can do everything as far as reconnecting wires and diode except the yellow wire that goes to the heater switch from pin 4 in the AM modification. Does any one have a clue where that wire came from originally and what I should do with it? Does it just hang in the air or did it actually have a connection on the other end from the heater switch?

FR101/FL101
I HAVE THE FL101/FL101 PAIR BUT WHATS MISSING IS THE UMBELICAL CORD LINK THE PAIR , THE FL101 HAS BEEN REPAIRED AFTER A LIGHTNING STRIKE AND NEW VALVES , AND SOME WIRING REPLACEMENT , WOULD BE GREAT IF I COULD THE PAIR BACK ON THE AIR , ANY SUGGESTIONS OR ANYTHING THAT MIGHT HELP ME TO GET THESE BACK ON AIR WOULD BE MRE THAN HELPFUL , THANKS , STEVE 2E0MDM?

Re: FT-101E Signal Generator is off frequency
开云体育This is great info, thanks!? I just tried to adjust it with the trimmer pot, and I could get it sorta close as long as the screw driver was on the pot, but as soon as I took it away, the marker tone changed significantly.? I can't get it close enough to be accurate, so I guess my next option is to try and find a replacement marker crystal and see where that gets me.? I'll do some research to see if any are still available.? I appreciate this a lot- definitely gets me much closer to having this problem resolved! Best,

Your three local oscillator crystals, USB LSB CW.... ?could be off frequency too.? On Wed, Jul 20, 2022 at 10:49 AM Scott Toth <nd4l@...> wrote:

Re: FT-101E Signal Generator is off frequency
OK. Does your radio have the WWV receive crystal installed? If yes, tune the receiver to it and zero beat the carrier while listening with headphones.? Then off tune a bit so you hear a 400hz to 800hz “tone”. Don’t be confused by the modulated audio WWV also sends out. It stops occasionally so there is only a carrier.? Now flip the marker on. ? If close in frequency you’ll hear the difference in tone between the dead on carrier frequency of WWV and the 25KHz-100KHz crystal oscillator in your radio.? On your regulator board (where the actual marker crystal and oscillator is located), there is TC1, a 50pF trimmer cap to adjust the marker frequency.? If you can’t pull it in with that trimmer, you’ll need a board repair or a new marker crystal.? Another way is to go to 160m band and see if you can use the preselector ?maxed out and tune in a local AM radio station around 1600khz to 1700khz and zero beat their carrier ... which is frequently well within 25Hz to 50Hz too.? Thanks?Bruce.? Something is off somewhere, I'm just not sure where.? I know that if I pull up the 14.300MHz Maritime Mobile net, I can center the VFO dial on 14.300 and hear the net fine, so I feel like the VFO and its dial are calibrated accurately (at least
in USB).? If I leave the VFO on 14.300 (while tuned in on the net control) and turn on the 100KHz generator, I don't hear the tone at all.? If I move the VFO down to 14.2986 (1.4KHz down), I can zero-beat between USB and LSB there.? Shouldn't I be able to
zero beat between USB and LSB at 14.300 and hear the net control on 14.300 at the same time?

Plus, you have to adjust the 500KHz back dial of the VFO every time you switch from LSB, USB or CW... relative to zeroing your market generator.?

Re: Location of FH2 Ft101ZD MK3
OK... How much do you want for it? On Tue, Jul 19, 2022 at 9:50 PM N0EE via <n0ee=[email protected]> wrote: Thanks for the reply. That is where I've been looking, nothing that resembles a fuse or fuse holder in this tank cage that I see on the bottom.? There is a 3pos terminal strip mounted inside the back panel by the receive antenna jack with what looks like a diode/lamp on the bottom but one end goes to chassis ground so to me that isn't it.?? I do see what looks like a lamp but it's mounted outside the final cage near the transformer. The SO239 center goes directly to an inductor that is connected to the relay.? I need a picture...? I didn't buy this rig to work on it, I'm going to spend maybe another hour on this jewel then off to market she goes.... Looks great with rated power out. |
