X-Air Ultralight Aircraft sail installation
? You have no choice but to un lace at front and join the velcro at rear and work forward, we used to always burn two holes at the rear and fit a cable tie to stop someone opening it as it is a real pain to get joined up again. If it is laced with the string replace the string with cable ties much easier to pull fabric forward just keep going around each one bit at a time until it is tight Seamus

I have had mine opened up half a dozen times now and found the best way was to lace it up then go back to start and pull lace tighter and work back to end of lace then Velcro was no problem

X-Air Ultralight Aircraft Re: Parts
Sorry Mark, but Randkar in France is the only source I an aware of. I had some parts from a crash several years ago but could not locate the canopy which means it must have been damaged and discarded. Good luck, John

X-Air Ultralight Aircraft X-Air standard Brake Shoes 6
Well further to my request and a couple of false starts, finally found some brake shoes that fit. Turns out the shoes are similar to those fitted to certain vintage Vespa mopeds, the shoes themselves are marked as 125mm x 17mm. Pattern parts are available in the UK and are cheaper than what I was quoted to get the shoes relined. Interestingly the brake shoes I received from the UK X-Air distributor were much smaller, so wonder if my X-Air has a much larger brake drum. Thanks for all the advice given, it was much appreciated. X-Air Ultralight Aircraft sails - Sorry I forgot to send the photo
I did a reenactment as I have already installed all my tail feathers. I used a old Bicycle inner tube but you could use anything to keep from scratching here tubing.I installed the perimeter tubing first and then the internal cross brace.

I just did mine. It's not too hard once you figure out a system. I used a Phillips screwdriver to help line holes up. A few times I used a pair of vice grips with a piece of rubber to clamp onto the tubing. Then used the Vice grips as a holding point for a bar clamp so you can stretch the sails far enough to bolt it together. If this does not make sense then send me your email and I will send you a photo. It's kind of hard to explain in words. I hope this helps. Nolton

X-Air standard Brake Shoes 2
Does anyone know of a source of brake shoes in the UK or further afield for X-Air brake shoes? I dismantled my left hand brake assembly today to find what was left of the friction material lying in the hub. Thanks Darren G-CCRI X-Air (Rotax 582)

X-Air Ultralight Aircraft Please heed the advice
Are you familiar with the Mach .07 design? It is similar as far as the flexing of the airframe. EVERY single one that I have ever seen or flown, has the SAME type of pin type assembly, the bolts that fasten the wings to the main fuselage tube, and both ends of the struts to the airframe act as single pins. The failure of any one of them would cause the structure that they fasten to simply rotate about the remaining pin points. I had a Spitfire, (think a Phantom with struts), the the fabric failed strength test on. Did I spend several grand on more fabric that was far too UV sensitive? NO, I covered the wings in regular aircraft fabric. It held together just fine for years. I don't have the bucks to stick several grand on fabric that is not all that strong when it comes to U.V. to begin with. I will stiffen the frame up, and it will be fine.
