Pretty cool rat bike!
?

Few dents in that tank, it’s an old spare one I picked up on ebay, the original maroon & cream one’s wrapped in a blanket in my loft J The sidecar I picked up on Gumtree (bit like craigslist?) It’s an old British one, I would think from the 60’s, the frame is 1 1/2” tube. I’d guess the tub was made by a later owner, mostly marine ply. Good job though.

?

I have her bolted on using five mounts, took a bit of tweeking but she’s fine up to 70 now, although she shakes her head a bit at 25mph. There’s a bit of life left in the Bridgestones, but I’ll replace the front at least with an Avon flat profile tyre eventually.

?

Great fun, the kids and dog love it…

Re: Selling my W - looking for advice

I love my W so much I now have 2! I recently purchased Ed's 2001 W for $4,000 with Hard bags, a Corbin Gunfighter and Lady seat w/Backrest, a tail rack and engine guards, and only 5,400 mile on the clock! While I realize Ed gave me, a fellow Forum member,? a great deal, we are talking about a 15 year old Motorcycle so I agree with Jerry, you may be asking too much. Have you checked out the new Triumphs? they've done what Kawasaki apparently was unwilling to do to keep the W family alive, that's your brand new competition!

I've had my W650 since 2004. I love it and hope to ride it for many more years. It's in excellent condition and?all original except for a modified Sargent seat and better suspension. It's worth a bunch to me! But if I put it out there asking $5400 I wouldn't expect to get many responses. $3500 to $4000 seems to be the going rate. :(

Try posting your ad in the Boston area. I’m sure there would be a lot of interest in a big city full of hipsters.

Hey folks,

As much as I hate to do it, I'm selling my W - I've had some great years with it and I love the bike, but there isn't enough room in the garage and with three bikes I'm not riding the W as much as I should be. Time for it to go to someone else who will love it and ride it like it deserves.

So... I put an ad on Craigslist about a week ago and got one response. He asked if it had ever been dumped, and I was honest and told him that it took one stationary fall. I also told him that it landed on my leg so there was very little damage, and the parts that were scraped up (mirror, gear shift, clutch lever, and front turn signal lens) were replaced with Kawasaki OEM parts. Never heard back from him...

I did price the bike at the top of what I think is reasonable ($5,400) for a bike with 22.5K miles and some bolt-on modifications. I'm really kind of surprised by the lack of response and I'm wondering what you guys think. Did I price it too high? Is it the mileage or the customizations (I have all the stock parts and they are included in the sale)?

I know the answer should be: KEEP IT! But I've made the decision to let it go. I would be very interested in what you guys think, and I'm also wondering if I should just bag Craigslist and try an Ebay auction. I've never sold a bike on Ebay and I really don't want to hassle with shipping, but I'll do it if it helps move the bike. Any words of wisdom on selling a bike through Ebay?

The Craiglist listing it here:

Oh, and if you all know anyone that's looking....? :-)

The other thing about selling the bike is that I'll really miss this group. I've learned a lot over the years. Thanks in advance for any help or tips.

Patience, young padawan.

I think that if there were more interested buyers in your area they would have
made some kind of offer. I'd keep the price as is and just continue to run the
ad, as long as you're under no pressure to sell.

And just because you've sold the bike is no reason to leave the group. I sold
mine in 2006!

Are those dents in the tank? Did you build that from wrecked bikes? What kind of sidecar is that?

?

2016 NW Rally

Well, it looks like I won't be able to get over there before the latter part of October, Big house to finish before I can get away (I'm the General Contractor!) It will likely be too late in the year for a NW ride so my plan is to pick up my 2001 W at Ed Simmers in Bellingham and take it up to Richmond B.C. to store it until there are more favorable riding conditions. If weather permits, I would like to bring it up to Vancouver Island for a ride, see some of my Cousins and hopefully Ruari. I am setting up the bike for touring, its already part way there but I will add a windshield, tail bag, some freeway pegs on the crash bars, and I am wondering about a comm system, does anyone have any feedback on a good dual Bluetooth setup that would also allow music to be played ?

Gear Position Sensor

Anyone have a problem with oil seeping out of the Gear Position Sensor? ?I replaced the O-ring in it which helped but didn't completely solve the problem? Any thoughts?

Re: Replacement turn signal options

Good leads and good advice - thanks for the help to all!

Re: Replacement turn signal options

Whatever you buy... make sure you but ones with double filament bulbs up front. Many of the t/s units are single filament style. You need to keep your running lights going up front...
