Re: Magnetron sputter system
Sounds like high resistance in the power transfer cables. Measure the voltage drop and knowing the current, calculate their resistance. What is their wire size? Hope that helps. Jerry Sent: Thursday,

Re: Magnetron sputter system
Drew, Your 3/4" feedthrough should handle 280 Amps without blinking and a single 00 cable should get you close, but three in parallel should do the trick. Do you have a current meter available to see

Re: Magnetron sputter system
When the resistance between the box terminals is at least four times the resistance of the power leads, you will deliver four times the power to the box as to the power leads. Start with a cold check

That is a monster piece of Ta. Fold up a boat from Tantalum sheet or 'Foil' or something similar. Machining down the Ta block is another option. Maybe two reduced necks each side of centre would also

Re: Magnetron sputter system
Hi, Lurker here ;-) The only advice I could suggest - I think that when you get into the 1000A range, you really need to go with water-cooled feedthroughs. Lesker, for example, have a 400A non-cooled

Re: Magnetron sputter system
Dave, I have a 280 amp resistive heater box ( Leskers ) that I have tried to make glow several times. It always ends after a few seconds with the wiring getting very hot. My 5kw welding transformer

Re: Magnetron sputter system
What issues are you having with the SiO that sputtering will fix? That's a pretty big leap from resistive sources to sputtering. Dave

Magnetron sputter system
Anybody out there got a magnetron sputter system they want to let go for a great price ??? I have been trying thermal deposition of silicon monoxide and just can not pump enough power into the chamber

I can only imagine what the wife said when she saw that manly rig assembled for the first time. Some one ought to tell her, at least - you are not out drinking every night! Brian

Re: Disk Jet Diffusion Pump
Here was the system as it looks assembled. The CVC water cooled trap/baffle coolant loop is what leaked. I really need to replace that thing but have not seen an 8" dia throat trap out on EBAY in

Sadly I've had to sell of all my vacuum equipment as I had nowhere to store it and being in share accommodation and all (studying medicine now), I was left with no other options.... I was wondering

Being a hardcore experimentalist I thought I'd test to see if this forum can still fog a mirror. (That's a metaphorical double entendre, I suppose.) Anyhow, a few months ago I designed and built a new

I'm having the same difficulty. ;) I'm betting a lot of us are. I've been reading about fusors for many years. They look like great fun, but also a big time-sink...I don't need any more of those!

Hi George, Very interesting site, I don't think I'll be able to look at a cocktail shaker and stainless steel funnels in quite the same way again! Looking through there site, I had to keep reminding
