Re: Morse Taper #0 spindle and tailstock for Unimat
Do you think 7.2 mm spindel hole can be simply reamed to MT0 with 9 mm major diameter? Or boring is needed? In the latter case boring bar would have to be very thin lacking rigidity. Have you actually

Re: Unimat motor
Sounds like there is a short in the motor. Best Regards, Andrei mailto:calciu1@... ________________________________ Sent: Tuesday, November 5, 2024 11:59 AM To: [email protected]

Unimat motor
I recently acquired a Unimat SL Model DB 200.? Motor was a little noisy, so I disassembled it, cleaned it up and put it back together.? It runs well, but in CCW rotation.? I believe it should be

Re: Morse Taper #0 spindle and tailstock for Unimat
I've not bought MT0 taper reamers but do have MT2 & 3 reamer sets. Imports cost me less than $30 per set then.? Looks like an import set of a roughing and finishing reamers in MT0 can be had for well

Morse Taper #0 spindle and tailstock for Unimat
Recently I came across LatheCity.com which offers MT0 tail and headstock spindles for Unimat SL. They look great, but the collar on the headstock is a separate part held by set screws. This is a bit

Re: Centering tailstock?
I would suggest checking to see if the tailstock spindle was parallel to the bed, and if it is, make an adjustable chuck mount similar to the ones sold by Sherline for their lathes.? By using an

Re: Centering tailstock?
Hi Carl. Somebody else has tailstock problems. I do agree with you that using a good indicator is an easy way to measure offsets. Get Outlook for Android<https://aka.ms/AAb9ysg>

Re: Centering tailstock?
Hello Andrei: Do you have an indicator? It would be best to start by measuring how far out the tail stock is. Hold the indicator in the headstock and rotate it inside the Morse Taper of the tail

Weren't the Unimat 4 machines Chinese made? I remember messages on Yahoo about issues. You may have to tweak it. Or, I could be wrong. But that is my memory. Neil. [email protected]> wrote:

This from Tony Lathes - https://www.lathes.co.uk/emco-unimat-3-and-4/ Built in Austria the Unimat 3 was very well made and became enormously popular; when equipped with a range of accessories (and if

The Unimat 4 is essentially the same as the 3 but with a better motor that will manage continuous running. I have not seen any other differences. I have used dead-centres to find that the alignment

So far as I can see the U4 is a U3 with a different motor. All other differences are minor. Yes, the head- and tailstocks are painted red. I daresay the experts can see many other differences, but

I¡¯ve not come across the Unimat 4 before but it looks very much like a red U3! Two dead centres, one in each of the holes in the headstock and tailstock spindles would check whether these shafts are

Re: Centering tailstock?
As mantioned before, more information is needed. Is it high, low, sideways? Are head and tail stock axis parallel? Typically alignment is done with shims to raise the low part up, or even tilt it.

Can you tell whether the tailstock is too high or too low, or too far left or right? Very possibly a bit of each.
