Re: Edelstaal cutoff or slotting tool and Komet toolholder
I have a Unimat cutoff tool holder, I also picked up one from Micro Mark that fits.? I found blades at Harbor Freight that can be used in the standard Unimat tool post with a shim under.? ?The HF

Re: Unimat motor
First of all, I only power tap through holes, never bottom tap. I reverse the spindle and back the tap out under power slowly. I hope this explains the process. It works very well. Dick --

Re: Edelstaal cutoff or slotting tool and Komet toolholder
Thanks for the photo, Peter, I will try this on my Unimat then. The G-clamp is cut, I will try and see if one of my machinist¡¯s clamps fits. Thins up, Herman Verzonden vanuit Outlook voor iOS

Re: Edelstaal cutoff or slotting tool and Komet toolholder
Hi Herman, it's just the standard U3 toolpost, with a tiny (and very cute) 'G' clamp. This photo is roughing out 'steps' in an aluminium pulley before further turning (I know, I know, as others have

Re: Edelstaal cutoff or slotting tool and Komet toolholder
That sounds interesting. But just to get the idea - what tool post you use where you can clamp the piece of hacksaw blade in between 2 tool blanks? Assuming that these tool blanks measure, say, 6x6mm

Re: Edelstaal cutoff or slotting tool and Komet toolholder
I got a similar one from a UK supplier but I find the clamping a bit dodgy, the cutter tends to skew away from the body of the tool. I¡¯ve used pieces of old hacksaw blade (cut to appropriate size

Urethane Motor Belts
I just finished making 2 urethane belts for my Unimat 24 volt DC motors. It was easier than I had expected. I had a spool of urethane round belting material so I gave it a try! Dick --

Reversible Motor Question
Has anyone had a chuck come unthreaded? I had thought these would be non-reversible with the threads on the headstock and tailstock being right hand so normal rotation tightens them, reverse would

Re: Unimat motor
Hi Carl, So, with the 3ph, do you just slam the drum switch through off to reverse? That just seems like a harsh thing to do. Not being critical here, just curious. Tim

Re: Edelstaal cutoff or slotting tool and Komet toolholder
Here is a link to A. R. Warner Co. and their selection of grooving and cutoff tooling. These use HSS inserts and have sizes to fit the Unimats (1/4, 3/8 and 5/16 inch shanks). They also have larger

Hi Herman, If I understand your question, the cut off tool can be mounted in the standard tool holder, and I also use my quick change tool holder. I attached photos. Scott Sent: Friday, November 8,

Re: Edelstaal cutoff or slotting tool and Komet toolholder
I use the Sherline cutoff blade on a Sherline lathe with their own steel toolpost and holders.? A cutoff blade should work on any later.? The narrower blade puts lower stress on the lathe.

Re: Unimat motor
Hi Gang: I do power tapping most of the time. Most Bridgeports have 3 phase motors that reverse instantly. The radial arm drilling machines I've used also have a clutch reverse, slow in, fast out.
