WA8LMF APRS UI-Webserver Connections Upgraded To Far Higher Speed
For years, my home APRS Webservers have been running on a Comcast cable modem Internet connection? that barely yielded a 500Kb/sec upload speed.
As of 1 May 2021, these servers are now using a 100 Mb/sec up/down fiber Internet connection.? People viewing maps generated by the 11 copies of Uiview running on this server should now experience vastly faster load times than before. The WA8LMF UIwebserver runs on an Acer E3-111 "netbook" 11.8" "mini-laptop" running Win7-64 supporting 4 VMware virtual machines. This netbook uses a quad-core Pentium processor with 8GB RAM and a 1TB SSD.? Total power draw is 9.5 watts while supporting 11 copies of UIiview, BeaconSee (IARU beacon monitor), EchoLink and two SSTV automatic receive systems.? It provides real-time views of what I am hearing off-the-air? (not the Internet) in central MIchigan, on 144.39 MHz VHF, the ISS APRS digipeater on 145.825 MHz, 30 Meters HF and 60 Meters HF. ? The HF systems map both classic AS.25 packet APRS and PSK63/MFSK16 APRS reception on separate instances of UIview; i.e. 4 separate copies. ? This might help: The Latitude and Longitude are in the format dd.mm.nn<C>. "dd" is two digits for degrees. "mm" is two digits for minutes. "nn" is two digits for decimal minutes. NOTE - decimal minutes, not seconds i.e. 30 seconds is .50 as there are 60 seconds in a minute. "<C>" is either "N" for North, "S" for South, "W" for West or "E" for East. --Stan Y. Ui-View normally puts an icon on the desk top, so use that, failing that the mysteriously named uiview32.exe is the program to run.

Ui-View is normally very easy to install, the only proviso is NOT to locate it under Program Files, something like C:\uiview will do. You should use the path settings recommended by the Digi operators near you. Where populations are less dense you likely can use more complex path settings.

Where populations are dense, most digi operators would say to beacon less often, and use shorter paths. You may find clues to what is working by setting your station for receive only and watching what others use and which paths work for them. As a group we should use paths that are only as long as needed and beacon as seldom as necessary to let others know your location. We use a shared resource. Don't use more than your fair share. New User issues
Evening foks,
I am new to the UI View program and I have a few questions that I cant seem to find answer for, and I thought I would try here. 1. I was told there are new "maps" are available and they are this "latest version he just put up on the website is Map Server version 2.0.1 and the OSM Maptool version 1.4.0.0," I must be blind or something I cant find that link anyplace. 2. I have Weather Display creating the WXNOW.TXT file in the APRS setup menu, I have set that location in UI View, and... nothing is happening, and I missing a checkbox someplace? ANy help would be great no one around my area has any idea. KC0RFR |

Same basic issue.
“Old” UIView registration number works; new registration # obtained recently from website does not. Perhaps it’s related to how you type in your name. In old version (when we got an email) I guess I used all lower case letters. Question: where exactly are UIReg.bin and the ini files in Windows 10?
