Diferent optiions for units !!

Rodrigo Sequeira Matias

Dear Roger,

Is it possible to change in next versions the program functionality about units ? In one of the menus, we could have the possibility to choose between royal and metric units to use in our windows and station details.

One example of this is the wind speed in miles per hour, an unit that I'm not used to.

Thanks in advance for your attention.

Best regards,

Rodrigo Matias (CT1GQU)

Re: smile it's y2k nearly

Being someone that lives within one or two miles of the border and crosses
over and back many times a day, if I had to change my call on the radio
each time that would be the last time I would use APRS mobile I think.
The fact that I am sending my location every time I transmit I think is OK.
but it would be nice to have some clarification.

Ok roger
here is a wish list :)

it occurred to me while driving over to Rhyl today that when I crossed
the welsh boarder (no one checked my passport and I had it ready) that I
pulled over to the side of the road in a safe and convenient manner to
enter the new callsign of GW7PAF.
could you write it into the next update that when I cross over to GW land
or GM land that the program senses the change in lat/long and alters my
call sign accordingly....!!!!

if you do roger then we should here from you around the year 2010 along
with the up-date to do it hi hi
but seriously those who are running mobile trackers or wot ever dont
forget to change your call if you stray over the border.
easy way to tell is look for the signs on the side of the road saying
WELCOME TO WALES/SCOTLAND/ENGLAND
a quick look at my map tells me a couple of welsh stations have sneaked
across the border and not changed there call signs.

I aint one to spout the regs at people but I thought I would bring it to
light
it caught me unawares a few weeks ago when I was over in welshpool
driving round like lord of the manor with my callsign at g7paf and then not
realising until I was way home that I should have been GW7PAF

ho hum
on another note to anyone with a laptop and if it has usb ports on it the
maplins usb to serial converter works a treat
so you can run the tnc and the GPS at the same time

I have no got my kpc3 my gpsII and the Aisin $20 GPS all hooked up and
running (more like thrown together).
the only faffing about is that I have to remove the IR. port from the
device manger so the entrega usb converter chooses a com port lower than 5
and not reboot the machine if I do then the IR. port is detected and
installed and the entrega com port goes to ether 5 or 6

can anyone shed some light on how I can stop the Infa-Red port being
detected and installed.
if I disable it the comport still goes to 5 or 6 it has to be removed
?????

When I double click on Using UI-View - Teh Menus - Terminal I receive the
following message:-

The topic does not exist.. Contact the application vendor for an update.

At the same time the Win 3.1 Help screen appears on-screen.

For information I am using Windows 98.

Hi,

The wx station needs to include wind chill in its beacon as e.g. "c035",
then two extra boxes will appear to the right of the two gust values in
the UI-View wx station display.

Hi Roger,

Thanks for the answers to my two queries.

I am forwarding the chill factor answer problem to Alan. He raised the query
with me.

No need to send a new Help file in response to the second one. This was just
part of the beta testing and I have no problems running the program. It is
all working great. I even de-installed W98 to Win 3.1 and apart from a map
color difference everything worked fine. I didn't mess about with the
palettes as I wanted to put W98 on again quickly.

Cheers.

Any more bugs?

Roger Barker <[email protected]

Apart from a problem with a duff link in the help file, I haven't had
any bugs reported with V0.4b.

I found one other slight problem in that, in WINPDDE mode, you could use
the "Query All Stations" option (all tx options are supposed to be
locked out in WINPDDE mode).

I've also rearranged the "Load A Map" list so the description comes
first, done a bit of rewording to one or two help topics, put a
LICENCE.TXT option on the Help menu, and added a Europe map.

Unless someone finds any other problems, I'll put V0.5b together this
weekend, and that will be the first public release.

It will be time limited to the end of May, and it will still carry the
restriction in LICENCE.TXT that it cannot be put on any internet sites.

Weather Bulletins

Can UI-View be configured in such a way that in the event of the weather data timing out, it will revert to sending just a home station location report?

Good idea. I'll try and put it in the next update.

correct! It should, of course, say "15th March".

Locator Beacons.

Hi,

Could a switch be put into the Setup - Miscellaneous box which would allow
locator beacon randomisation to be enabled/disabled?

Yes, but they would then plot exactly on top of each other if there were
more than two in the same square.

Re: Locator Beacons.

"Alan Strong" <[email protected]

Ken's request was prompted by a situation we have locally where the
randomisation is causing a gridsquare station in one locator square to
conflict with a home station in the adjacent square. In these circumstances
it would be useful to be able to either switch off the randomisation or
adjust it manually.
