You could also modify a classic- "An arrow,an arrow, my kingdom for an arrow!?

Re: Need term equivalents

For “move out” you could use something like “Step it out!”?

"Out of Ammo" is just that -- your soldier is out of ammo.

Now a friend and I are designing a fantasy version of the game and need "older" equivalents for these two terms. It could be something from ancient or medieval days.

Note that "ammo" now will include arrows, darts, spears, rocks (for slings).

I'm considering "Stand To!" for "Move It!" and "Depleted" for "Out of Ammo." But I throw this out to the group for ideas.

Thanks

Buna Beach head December 42 CoC game

From back in December we played a 20mm Chain of Command game based on the 18th Australian Infantry Brigade, 2/6th Australian Armoured Regiment attack against some troops from the 229th Rgt (probably) in December 42.
It was an uneven game with Jon having to face 2 platoons of Aussies under Rob and Bill and a M3 Stuart. Both sides had slightly depleted units. All the Japanese were dug in or in hard cover.
The Aussies choose a pre game barrage and 1 Stuart. The Japanese had a MMG team which Jon put in hard cover on his left to sweep the coconut tree flank. The only AT assets were a team of tank busters with grenades.

Holiday Sharp Practice AWI game

After a year off, I ran another of the 'Apparently Annual (except during a pandemic) Sharp Practice Holiday' games.? This year it was another AWI foraging game.? The difference was that I had 3 competing Crown units against 1 defending rebel player.? ??
The premise? was that the combined Crown force was moving in on a small group of farmsteads that was suspected of having some ripe pickings.? As each group entered a house, barn or outbuilding, they would dice to see what they found.? So many of the goodies in the dwellings had some alcoholic spirits which while desirable might also cause some debilitating effects on the combat effectiveness.? Chickens, pigs, cattle . . . could all be taken away by a few designated men.? The Jager, Light bob or Highlander unit with the most loot would win.??
I also have multiple choice quiz questions between phases that award a Command Chip for correct guesses.? This year's quiz was focused on European Holiday food traditions.
To get everyone in a festive mood I handed out treats ahead of time.? The Brit Lights received a pack of Penguin biscuits, the Jagers got a bag of pfeffernusse cookies, the Scots a box of Walkers shortbread and the New York colonist a bag of Tate's Bake Shop cookies.? And any casualties would initiate a cup of Hersey kisses to get passed around.? And since Gigabites has a great selection of beer and cider this was the closest thing to a wargame holiday party that was going to happen.
Merry Christmas to Lardville.

Re: Merry Christmas

And to you as well.

Covid permitting I hope to get some Sharp Practice and Bag the Hun in with a friend over the holidays.?
Maybe O Group if we're still sober...

Re: Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas!?

Spent a marathon painting SCW in 20mm for CoC Espana! this year with a late side-track to finish some 28mm Chinese buildings and figures for the Taiping Rebellion, and then a December hiatus as I get in the Christmas spirit.? And plenty of good gaming in between.??

Have a game schedule for the second Saturday of the new year, but with a set of rules home brewed by a club mate.? Looking forward to getting back into CoC Espana! soon thereafter.??

Merry Christmas to one and all.

I wish I had found time to play a game this year, but it wasn't to be.

Instead I've been writing rules. A variant of Chain-of-Command
tentatively title Big Little Wars.

Near future small wars. Nothing from Uranus.

Any mecha? Or at least powered suits?

6mm Poland 44 IABSM AAR

This was a somewhat generic game based on actions to the east of Warsaw in August 1944 where the Soviets had sent masses of tanks through thin lines of the German defenders.? The panzer units were then forced to scramble to cut those units off before they totally disrupted the front.
Russians had 2 T34 companies and a company of tank riders? Germans started with 2 StuGIVs and rec'd a counter attacking force of 4 Panthers, a Stummel and 5 Pzgrd sections in Sdkfz251s.??

Re: coc us squad/ team activation query

Teams would be anything that is not in the TO&E that has been attached. For example the base German squad does not have any MG's where the US has BAR's and the British have Bren Guns.
