Re: Pacific BtH
The Japanese tend to get better pilot quality at that time, which helps. Zeros do better at getting on a tail and keeping it? as well.? The difference was really pilot quality. An Ace gets more chances to squeeze that extra * of maneuverability? But the F4F once the American pilots figured things out, hit hard. Trouble?is a lot of the early Pacific is psychological. American pilots were scared of the mythic Zero. The air group commander in Guadalcanal I think first sussed out the drop in Japanese pilot quality and told his pilots to be more aggressive? |
Pacific BtH
I’m thinking of running the “Army Navy Game” from the Guadacanal CY6! Book. ?It’s P-39s and F4Fs vs Zeros. ?
?
First I‘m not seeing the difference between Wildcats and Zeros. ?They are roughly the same maneuverability (* for the zero). The zero hits harder (20mm) but are fragile. ?The Wildcat is tougher. ? But my question is how does the Wildcat really differ from the Zero in play? ?Other than blowing up differently?
?
Also Zeros suffer from fire, what is the test in “Aircraft with a * marked against their robustness [ROB] must test for fire”, as opposed to ”on fire”? |
46 RMC at Le Hamel June 11, 44
This was going to be a two part battle, with the first contest covering the attack by 46 Royal Marine Commando and the Ft Garry Horse on the village of le Hamel on June 11, 1944. As soon as I construct a suitable graveyard I'll run the Rots battle. The 2 Commonwealth players had a troop of Shermans and 1 Commando Troop each.? The defending German had a very weak 2 platoon company and 2 PaK40s. All the info for this game came from the incredible The Waist High Cornfield book by Keith Taylor? Written as a tribute to his dad, Eric Taylor and other members of the 46 RMC. Link to flickr set: Mark |

I am so looking forward to those rules. From what I have seen they look promising? On Wed, Jun 1, 2022 at 09:47 cscholti <cscholti@...> wrote: Is anyone with Lard America running a WaC game at Historicon? If so, when known, can you post the event time and title so I can pre-reg for it? --

6mm IABSM East of Olita game
I was in the mood to do an East Front game and hadn't gotten my Pz38ts and multitudes of T26s out lately so went with a table inspired by actions with the 7th Panzer and 3rd Mech Corp in Lithuania early in Operation Barbarossa.?
Almost all armor for this game-Well, 1941 standards for armor at any rate. Click on the pics to get a description.? Link to flickr site: Mark |
Gully Hole Creek --War of Jenkin's Ear SP game
Something a bit different and a preview of upcoming SP book.? ?Chris Stoesen's latest has some really interesting scenarios for this mid 18th century war between the Spanish and British in the Americas.? I've been waiting to get some of these toys on the table for a while now. The fights on the east coast of Georgia were small but had a nifty variety of unit types and the setting was certainly a wild one.? I decided to play the Battle of Gully Hole Creek to start.? John had the defending Crown forces and I took the invading Spanish.? Cool mixture of uniformed militia, Scots, colonial rangers, red coated regulars and native Americans.? And the fights were in some pretty messy terrain.
