IABSM in 6mm

Going to try to play IABSM solo in 6mm

For Big Men.....I find it weird to have a teeny tiny little metal blob for a big man. How do you 6mm'ers handle this?

Thanks

Hi all,

Thought I would post up 2 pics of a solo game I played a couple months ago, and a few minis. This is for Seven Spears - which is a great Japanese Sengoku Jidai (mid / late medieval) mod for Dux Brit.?

I've been working on these minis on an off for about 2 years or so. The plan originally was to get one side done and a buddy the other, but he's struggled with a move back local for work and no space for minis or painting so I decided to get on with a second force myself. I treated myself to a good bit of MDF terrain a while ago which I've enjoyed working on, plants are mostly cheap plastic or sponge and work well. Japan is very green. I still need to work on difficult ground, I was thinking of doing rice paddies but I've got enough to get on with.

As for the game itself, it played really nicely solo. Young buck?Moriyama Yoshiyuki led a foray against a village in the domain of the older and renowned?Katsura Kagetoki, managing to make off with some decent wealth despite some fierce fighting.?

Moriyama Yoshiyuki is looking to make a name for himself and this was a good start to his campaign. It won't be long however until his daimyo's tax collectors show up for tribute.?

For those looking for an alternative period, I've really fallen in love with Japan.?

It will probably be a while until the next game, my wife and I had our 4th child 2 weeks ago so gaming time is greatly diminished. I may try for some small skirmish

Regards,
Richard

Re: IABSM, basing vs. Artillery

My 20mm stuff is mostly on 30mm square bases with 3 figures (this is a squad when playing games like Crossfire or Battlefront:WW2).
I also have bases with 2 figures (e.g. for LMG teams) and lots of single based figures.
So when using the figures for IABSM or CoC I can easily 'make change' as required.?
Never had an issue with not being able to spread out - you can still do so, just in little groups of more than 1 figure.

Good points all.? I've done the single basing thing for the last two years. Works okay ( I base Airfix on US pennies which measure 19.5mm in diameter so that works well.)? The challenge is that once you start having battles with say more than 50 figures...........it gets tedious moving all those individual figures.

Re: Using CoC with Skirmish Campaigns scenarios?

No. It adds extra problems but some scenarios don’t allow for small arms covering the whole line of sight on table so you wouldn’t get secure jop’s without the patrol feature. Besides it makes a more tactical game from the start.?

Imagine a Napoleonic game where you did the same sort of thing instead of line em up and shoot.?

Any tips on using CoC with these? They have things like predefined deployment zones, turn based reinforcements schedules and victory conditions like exiting 2 units off opponent’s board edge within so many turns. All of these things make use with CoC tricky. Do you forgo the patrol phase? Would a pair of phases equal a turn for Skirmish Campaign purposes? What do you do if your dice don’t allow deployment of a specific reinforcement unit on the “turn” it is due?

Cheers Fred.

Thanks Carole, but seems unlikely, as my family never buy me game toys. On the bright side, I got my freebie from the WSS survey today, and on the down side, the SSE thought Christmas Eve was a good day to tell me the utility bills were due.

Anyway, preparation mostly done, and family expected from 11.30 tomorrow ?

Re: Using CoC with Skirmish Campaigns scenarios?

O use them more to inspire CoC versions than replicating them exactly as written.
