Important notice 11
IMPORTANT NOTICE - PLEASE READ Groups.io has been working at re-verifying members of its Groups in response to an spam filtering service called Spamhaus affecting users. This process has been ongoing and those members of Groups.io groups whose e-mail domains are problematic will have already been notified. This is the bulk of the text of the message I received from Groups.io: On Saturday January 13th, 2024, an anti-spam service called Spamhaus labeled one of our email servers as a spam sender. This caused any email service that uses Spamhaus to stop accepting email from our server. Because of this, we began a reverification process and sent out reverification emails to a subset of our users on Sunday January 14th. Spamhaus lifted their block on Monday, January 15th, 2024, but we need to continue the reverification process. You can see which, if any, of your users are affected. Go to the Admin section of your group and look at the Members page. Next to each user's email, there may be a badge with the letters RI or RS. RI means the confirmation/reverification is in progress, but has not been completed. RS means the confirmation/reverification has been successfully completed. Here are the next steps in the reverification process: 1. On Sunday, January 28th, group emails to people in the RI state will be disabled. Messages from moderators and login link emails will still work. 2. Until February 11th, people will still be able to reverify themselves and the RI and RS badges will still show up in the Members page. 3. After that, members still in the RI state will be removed from groups. The activity log entry will be Membership - Member Removed, with the added reason of reverification failed. For domains where no reverifications happened, no invites or direct adds will be permitted going forward. If there is a valid person on one of those domains, they should contact [email protected] to have the domain ban lifted. We apologize for the inconvenience this process may cause, but it is necessary to ensure that we are able to continue delivering group email reliably. Thank you for using Groups.io. So, if you received an e-mail from Groups.io explaining what is going on , and asking you to verify your e-mail address, and you have not yet done it, please do so.

Tek P6022 current probe 16
Late last year I purchased a P6022 current probe on ebay, which was advertised as being in good working condition, although on the pictures it was evident that at the very least that probe had seen a lot of use given the wear on the labels. There is also some stiffness in the connecting cable due to aging, but otherwise it still looks good and shows no apparent damage anywhere. When I tested this probe with the 134 probe amplifier and attempted to compare it to my P6021, results where not very consistent, and at some point I noticed that when I somewhat squeezed the sides of the probe body about half way along the body, the readings would jump up or down. I then opened the probe by following the instructions in the manual, and under the microscope saw that one of the solder joints of the transformer windings was obviously broken. I resoldered that joint and attempted to reassemble the probe with that long spring in place, but at some point the tip started to show some fine stress fractures from the pressure that the spring exerts on it, so I removed the spring and reassembled the probe without it. Except for not closing itself the probe seems to work fine and the jumping readings while squeezing the probe body are gone. I am sure that had I left the spring in it, the tip of the probe where the sliding part engages into would have broken off as I can clearly see some hairline cracks forming in that area. I looked online but I only found the upper slide part in Greece. However what I need to replace is really the lower portion. Although I am not in any rush to do that, but if the opportunity would present itself I would certainly consider it. Has anybody done this same thing, removing the spring to relieve the stress to the tip? Or is there perhaps another reason why the spring needs to remain inside the probe as it might affect the calibration? Its a piece of metal quite close to the transformer windings. I was at first considering just shortening the spring a bit to reduce its tension, but in the end decided to completely remove it. The probe now easily slides open and closes, and I guess its just a matter to make sure it is properly closed before taking any readings. I still have to compare the readings between the 6022 and the 6021 to see if they make sense, with the 134 set to the correct probe model. So that is something that I still need to do. My guess is that I will have to do this at a frequency that would fall inside the operating range of both probes. Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks.

New group for Yokogawa test gear 8
I've been recently acquiring more Yokogawa test gear and have been talking to Yokogawa to obtain old manuals etc, so I thought maybe I'd make a group to put the info and for others to join in too. I still have to figure out upgrading to a group with storage, so it's a bit bare bones at the moment, but if you have any Yokogawa equipment, here is the place to meet. :) /g/Yokogawa-Test-Equipment Apologies if this breaks any rules? Mods please remove if so. Jared

7603 vertical output 9
I am looking for an updated 1A1 function, that is, an A1Ch1-A2Ch2 output. It looks like the 7603 has a vertical output on the back panel and that may do the trick. Can anyone verify the 7603 vertical output will do that? Any other scope series with the same functionality?

Any Montrealers here?
I have a scummy 531 mainframe for sale for 25$ CDN. I won't be shipping this thing, gotta be local. It's the old square cabinet kind, no plugin, it belonged to a heavy smoker, the CRT is good, but it's old and ratty. Leather handles are disintegrating, no fan cover. For parts I guess. It's at my parent's place, pictures to follow, just thought I'd give this groups a heads up.

7L5 dot marker and DC response 14
Hello out there, I am a little bit used to work with SA and I know, that almost every SA ( if not supressed by the display system ) shows a DC-Peak, which means the system is receiving his own LO. This peak should, as I understand the 7l5, be congruent with the "Dot Marker" on the screen when the Dot Frequency is set to ZERO. My 7l5 shows this DC- Peak arround 600 Hz above the Dot Marker whne running without input signal. When I apply a 1KHz signal, this DC Peak is joined by two more peaks, one 1KHz above the DC Peak and one 1kHz below the DC Peak ( Mirror of the normal displa. So, what went wrong ? The display content is always shown arround 600 Hz to high. Has anyone an idea what I am awaiting wrong, or how this can be fixed ? Best regards Herbert / DD0PC/CT2IJD

groups.io email "verify" requirements
-- John Griessen -- building lab gear for biologists Albuquerque NM blog.kitmatic.com On 1/26/24 10:39, Chuck Harris wrote: > turned my email > address in to Spamhaus some years ago, and I suddenly found > that nobody would accept my emails. I've had that happen and it's sometimes about the mail server it goes through. I run my own and find that I have to update to higher levels of setup of details of email and the latest is called DMARC. gmail.com started requiring it, so the practical thing is to comply and do it. Several years ago it was adding DKIM and SPF postfix email setup details and some DNS settings also... It's a big pain the way it randomly strikes.

7B92A Trigger fault 6
Hi, I'm new to this group. I have a 7603 Mainframe and the following plug-ins:- 2 x 7A26, 7A11, 7A19, 7A22, 7D13, 7B53A, 7B80, 7B85 and 7B92. Unfortunately, the 7B92 has developed a trigger fault where after about 30 minutes, the timebase fails to trigger. Any suggestions would be greatly received before I go digging. I don't have an extender, so know this might be a tricky fault to chase. Many thanks in advance, Ian, GM0UHC www.chavfreezone.me.uk

TDS 754A Problem 7
I purchased a TDS754A on Ebay. After receiving it I plugged it in and the scope powered up without pressing the ON/STBY button. The scope booted and the power-up self check passed. It said that the model was a TDS754D model. The display said to Push CLEAR MENU to proceed. I didn't , but it went on to the display mode. The ON/STBY, the CLEAR MENU, and the two buttons above the CLEAR MENU all don't work. Is this an easy fix? Thanks! Brian

2465A (ch.1-ch2) output 7
I have a 2465A and hoping I can get an output for Ch. 1 - Ch2, much like the old 1A1 preamplifier. If I invert ch.2 and add to ch.1 will the output on the back bnc (ch. 2 output) give me the ch1 - ch2.? Is there any more modern preamp than the 1A1 that has that function? Regards, mike zias / W3JRR

7000 Series Plugins 22
Hello all, I just purchased a Tek 7704, my first "real" scope. I have a couple portables (Tek 454 and HP 1741A) but have never had the chance to work with anything like a 7000 series before. I currently have acquired the following plugins: 2x 7A26 Dual Vertical Amplifier 1x 7A70 Single Timebase 1x 7A71 Delaying Timebase 1x 7D15 Counter/Timer The following is my wishlist of plugins: 7D12 (with sample and hold module) 7D13 Multimeter 7D01 with DF02 Formatter 7M13 Readout Unit 7L5 Spectrum Analyzer 7S11/7T11 Sampling Plugins If anyone happens to have a surplus of 7000 series plugins they're looking to sell I'd be interested, I'd eventually like to amass a nice selection of plugins, so I'm open to more than just the above list. That's just the immediate wishlist from skimming the 7000 series plugins page on the wiki. Please let me know if this type of post isn't allowed here, I am new to this group (and message groups in general). Regards, -David

Tek 2335 4
Sorry for the undisciplined pleas for help but does anyone have any thoughts on a Tek 2335 that powers on and juts displays a spot and no sweep? Just need a suggestion or two to know where to start debugging as I am not familiar with this scope. When the unit sits for a while, it comes to life and seems OK but then loses the sweep. Thanks in advance. -- William, k6whp -------------------- "Cheer up, things could get worse. So I cheered up and things got worse."

Hey, I just joined the group and my name is Walter, KA2NJF I am 80 years old. My Tektronix is in need of service. Is there any service deposit or any one in the South Jersey or South East PA who works on this piece of equipment? I can not get any frequency reading above 20 MHZ and this is a 150 MHZ scope. Thanks, Walt, KA2NJF Sent from the all new AOL app for iOS

I have two separate probe pouches for tekscopes 5
Lawrance A. Schneider Sep 20 #201019 I have two distinct probe pouches to tek scopes. One fits a 2465. The other fits a 2565BDM. Further, I have the handle for a 2465. The scopes are on shelves in my lab and I will never use either the pouch(s) nor the handle. $15 + shipping for a pouch. $15 + shipping for the handle. I also have a face cover. I don't remember for which instrument it was. It has a paper adhered to the inside with a barcode and number 200505200. Again, $15 + shipping. The handle for the BDM is still attached as it is 'out of the way'. The handle for the 2465 is not attached making the scope fit on its particular shelve. I hope these find a home as 'she who must be obeyed' insists they be sold or thrown away. Why she cares? ??????

Tek 7844 and 7A26 Vertical Amplifier 2
Gentlemen... I'm new here and I am reaching out for some advice/help as I have an issue with the combination in the subject line. The scope turns on fine and I get a horizontal trace. I can position the trace as per normal. However there is no vertical amplification whatsoever. This occurs in AC as well as DC input mode. I pulled the power unit from the mainframe and checked the supply voltages, all within spec. I was careful to pre-charge the inputs whilst measuring the AC component with DC in AC mode. Any insight would be appreciated. I have the service manuals for both the main frame and vertical plug-in. Thanks in advance, Michael

Trace signal mixed up with readout 22
Hello, Need your advise with the following problem. Tek 2465B A5 board went through the caps leakage. Cleaned, caps replaced, traces & pads were not affected in the area. The issue is that Trace signal mixed up with readout (photos /g/TekScopes2/album?id=289647). Artifacts are exactly above readout text. When turn off readouts, artifacts go away too. When A5 is replaced with good one, no issue with trace & readout. Initial guess was that a rest of a leakage is kept under some ICs and it makes a "conductive bridge" between parts of the board that shouldn't have been there. The board was cleaned by IPA and then by water with dish soap using spray to apply some jet under all ICs on the board. No effect. All nearby ICs U2965, 2970 and 2890 and ceramic caps around leaked C2965 were desoldered. Area under them was clean, confirming that "car wash" was effective indeed. PS Area around C2011,2331,2113 was cleaned too. I am running out of ideas...

Tek 576 Let out the Magis Smoke 11
I was testing a 2N3055 on the 75 volt range and stepped away for 30 seconds. Heard a pop and saw smoke coming out of the left side of the 576. The DuT had shorted out, C-B-E. Since the incident, I have only a dot in the lower left of the display. I thought the current limit resistor had opened, so I tried all the other ranges, but got nothing. Unless the resistors are in series, it looks like more than a resistor failed. What is the most likely component to have failed in this situation?
