Tek 2335

Sorry for the undisciplined pleas for help but does anyone have any thoughts on a Tek 2335 that powers on and juts displays a spot and no sweep? Just need a suggestion or two to know where to start debugging as I am not familiar with this scope.

When the unit sits for a while, it comes to life and seems OK but then loses the sweep.

Thanks in advance.

Here's the service manual:?

Try the "NO VISIBLE DISPLAY" troubleshooting chart on page 242.

Good luck!

Mike,

Thank you. If/when I discover the problem, will post resolution here.

From? my notes-
Do not remember the actual symptom whether just a spot initial turn on then vanished or nothing on the screen..I think it was nothing.....anyway,
on my 2335 the issue was on the Z axis- R113 burned A15 board near Q14?? (location 2E pullout 9,? HiV/CRT)
none of the voltages were correct TP 30 bad was 14VDC, good should be square wave ~ 30V
cause was shorted C108 (.005 1% polystyrene)...replaced with 5100 pf mylar film 1kv a better choice IMO.

The trouble shooting flow charts worked great...made it easy

there is an error in manual 6-17 item 22 torque spec is 1.5 Ft -pounds or 18 inch pounds ( Rev 1984)

other than the trimmer R47 (ch1 gain) needing to be replaced correctly...just do not want to disassemble again...so the tacked R is fine for now.

good little portable scope!
