Looking for Tektronix VM700T Software 4
I am looking for the VMT control software (and/or any other software) for the vintage 1996-1999 VM-700T NTSC/PAL video test set. Since this unit has been made "obsolete" by the sunset of the old analog TV transmission protocols, they are no longer supported by whomever took over the Tek video division. My unit has the audio option enabled, among others, and it would be nice to be able to more easily build some automated functions for it. Also are there any CLIP files available anywhere since this unit falls into the "board level exchange" era of servicing.

RM15 MOD 801C 6
Hey all, I picked up a RM15 (rackmount 515) a few weeks ago and aside from missing most of its tubes it is in impeccable condition. What's peculiar is next to the s/n is a plate that says MOD 801C. Any and all information I can find on the 515/515A goes up to MOD 760C, and associated engineering documentation. I cant find a thing on MOD801C. Anyone hear of such a thing?

2465B which are my options for the SRAM "problem"? low serial with OPTION 5:) 13
Finally I decided to take care of the baby, before is too late: TEK2465B S/N: B017389 Hours: 10045 Pwer On/Off: 1783 AFAIK never recalibrated, no sticker applied Apparently I have at leasr OPTION 5 installed, I have the same panel: https://www.leboncoin.fr/ad/accessoires_informatique/2901068025 I dumped the CAL values using a video (actually two, I discovered I made some errors, with light "0", "B" and "8" seems similar, so I took another one (still to be triple checked). Now I would like to know which are my options: 1) could I apply the solution that writes the values after burning a special eprom/eeprom with cal data in it? Keep the same/replace SRAM after replacing the battery? I see there is a utility (24xxAB-writecal-1.1) that would allow me to put CAL data and have it be written in the SRAM. Is this one fit for the purpose: GQ PRG113 GQ4X4 + ADP054 + EPROM ERASER https://www.amazon.it/GQ-PRG113-GQ4X4-ADP054-EARASER/dp/B011HVON3A/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 2) would it be possible to use the FRAM+DIP adapter solution and get rid of the battery altogether? It is not clear to me if this could be used on the low serial scopes also. Same goes for the programmer mentioned before. In addition: 3) is there any way to know for sure which are the options installed? I see these options (BU EXER F1, CT EXER 01, TV EXER something, maybe CCT/WR OPTION 9?), but is there an official method to confirm? this is the back panel: https://www.iw2jww.it/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/2L4A3048-scaled.jpg Is that the connector for the P6407? 4) Is there any way to retrofit a 2465B with a GPIB board? Is it worth it? Thanks in advance. -- Giuseppe Marullo IW2JWW - JN45RQ

5L4N manual (not 'interim') 3
Trying to fix a 5L4N SA - the sweep functions OK, except for single sweep, but nothing else works. Is there a later version of the manual ? A trouble-shooting guide ? The TekWiki one is 'interim'. although it has the schematics and component layout. Don't really know where to start on this one.The 15V supplies are good at the test points, but that's as far as I have got. TIA Tim P -

Tek 492 Y axis failure? 4
Hi. I have this 492 which was working. Last week a friend donated a largely stripped 492 whose remaining parts I thought could be tested in the working unit. First thing to test was the crt. Unfortunately, nothing appeared on the display and the distinct smell of toasted component filled the air so quickly turned the 492 off. Following my nose, led me to the video amplifier board, where a shorted tantalum was quickly found. With that replaced, the 492 came back to life, all the lights, traces, display readings etc. However, there appears to be no vertical readings. Before I dive into the manual when I next get time, does anyone have any idea as to where to look? For example, could the video board have damaged an adjacent board? I've seen people replacing the diode and tantalum in the Yig filter, so I should just check there first... Once this is fixed, I'll give it a miss testing the remaining parts and just sell them 'as is - for parts' James

2465B Screen artifacts 4
Hi everyone. I recently got a 2465B scope and replaced all leaky/high ESR CAPs. The Dallas NVRAM was missing so I hacked in a FRAM and the machine did switch on; have to press A/B TRIG to proceed when the unit self tests (presumably TEST 04 FAIL). The first thing is that, I had to adjust the GRID BIAS before I could see anything. After adjusting, I noticed there're dots and weird characters on the screen. I've read somewhere else that this has something to do with the CAL data. So I tried to do the CAL procedures. But I cannot finish beyond the first step of CAL 08, the center dots dim with other dots as I adjust the GRID BIAS. The Intensity trim pot seems to do nothing. Readout Intensity is either on or off. The problem is very similar to this post on EEVBlog, and there's a video in this post: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/tektronix-2465b-repair-advice Feeding in 10MHz sine wave into all 4 channels and they looks good except the flashing dots and weird characters. Checked all voltages according to the 5-1 table, and traced down all lines related to the DI, ROI to the U650. Before R361 and R353, dramatic changes on voltage when turning the pots. But checking the 22 and 23 pin of U650, changes were, however, in 100mV range. Removing the U950 chip restore the amplitude to reasonable levels. But this also did nothing the the screen. Everything is still in place - nothing disappeared, nothing changed - weird characters, dots, signals remain the same. Test signals 22, 23, 65, 66 shown in the SM are way out on amplitude. Feeding 3Hz 5Vpp signals into the Ext, Z-axis in did absolutely nothing to the screen. I don't have another U950 on hand to test but the U950 seems to be the culprit?

looking for LEMO power supply jack (ERA.OS.304.CLL) 6
Wondering if anyonewho has a "spares" 465, 475, or 485 would be willing to pull a couple of the LEMO power jacks from the back (the four pin jackused to power Tek probes that use +/-15VDC) for me. I want to build a stand alone power supply so I can use some of my power-required probes on my 2465B, which aren't equipped with them. email is K7WXWatqrpdxdotnet or message me here. Thanks! Bill

2755AP - 2nd LO tuning failure when span <= 500 Hz 7
Have had this 2755AP for 10+ years; for the first time in recollection I've needed to use very narrow span width (to inspect output of a HP synthesizer). Frequency being inspected is 1000 MHz. When span is set to 500 Hz/div, I get occasional "Tuning failure 2nd LO". When span is set to 200 Hz or 100 Hz/div, the error messages are more frequent but not continuous. The error message does not appear at power-up self-test. I used Shift 0 3 to access "2ND LO DIAGNOSTIC AID". Doesn't appear I can post the photo here, but this is the displayed info: TUNE VOLTS NOMINAL=0.01V DAC SET = 0.19V 2ND LO FREQ DESIRED = 2.182.000GHZ COUNTED = 2.182.099GHZ OFFSET FREQ DESIRED = 18.000 000MHZ COUNTED = 17.900MHZ OFFSET SETTING ACCURACY 294.912KHZ The verbiage in the service manual (volume 1, page 6-12, section titled "TUNING FAILURE - 2ND LO" includes the text "The offset setting accuracy is the maximum permitted difference between the actual and desired offset frequencies. The setting process ends when the difference becomes less than or equal to this value. The tolerance depends on frequency span and band." I'm puzzling over what this is trying to tell me. Also I believe the analyzer has a built-in back-up battery which has not been touched in at least the 10 years I've had the unit here. Does the back-up battery store some calibration coefficients that could have been lost? There has been no error message related to back-up battery specifically. Thanks! Dave

Tek 577 sells for $256 on eBay 38
I saw this 577 Curve Tracer show up on eBay and it sold for $256. Not sure if that power-up trace indicates an issue (not having had or operated a curve tracer, I don't know what the power-up trace should look like). Following-on to conversations in this forum about the the 576, I've been keeping my eyes out for a 576. Is there a significant difference between the two? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Tektronix-577-Transistor-Curve-Tracer-Guaranteed-not-DOA/112978741256?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

Like to say hello and ask a question about my Tektronix 465 ocsilloscope 18
Hello all, I’ve been searching for repair information regarding a Tektronixs 465 oscilloscope and found this interesting website. So, I just registered and like to introduce myself. I’m Wilfred, 62 years old and living in the Netherlands. My interests are electronics, in particular restoring the good old tube televisions and radio’s, Oldtimer cars and general technical things. Recently I found a Tektronix 465 scope in a fairly good shape, with some issues though, but in a working condition. The 100:1 attenuator on channel B needed replacement, capacitor C1552 as well. Anyway, at some point I noticed that the beam was intermittent blurry due to the astigmatism. Astigmatism could be adjusted but not within reach of the potentiometer. It was even so that the scope reacted strange when I turned the potentiometer to one side, the illumination of the small light bulbs went too dark and also the beam disappeared. Voltage on the grid seems to be okay, 0-110 V depending on adjustment. I’m afraid that the picture tube has an shortage issue between grids, but like to know from the members experience if this would be he case indeed. Thanks a lot for any reply and have a great day ! Wilfred

Salvage yard rescue: Tektronix TU-50. Some questions from a non-tech 10
Hey everyone, I was pointed in the direction of this group from the Tektronix subreddit. Like the title says I don't have a formal background in EE or repairs, just some modest restorations of tape machines and other audio equipment. Apologies if I say something glaringly incorrect lol So basically, I frequent a lot of e-waste recycling type places here in the Bay Area and today I spotted this vintage Tektronix unit next to the dumpster at one of these spots. I asked the cashier if I could take it instead, which apparently required a small transaction for their records. So $5 later I'm driving home with a TU-50 in the back seat Now what I was expecting was that the internals would already have been more or less parted out already and that I'd reuse the chassis for a project, but when I took a look inside I was floored. The entire 70+ tube complement, original selenium rectifiers, coils, ect were untouched. The only thing missing seemingly was the accessory that plugs into the sine wave gen section, a single knob in square wave section that I replaced in the meantime, and also the cage that's supposed to hold up the fan has an issue I haven't looked at. I'm by no means set up or experienced enough to test complicated tube equipment like this so I can't report on that front unfortunately. From what I've gathered, this was a low production one-stop shop for calibrating oscilloscopes that was only used internally by Tektronix during production in the 60s-70s? This one's no. 248 I really don't have the heart to tear down a well preserved piece of tech history like this. I mean even among the other pre-IC Tek equipment I've opened up, the point-to-point layout and construction is just artful. The row of 50 tubes upside down in the frequency division(?) section kept bringing to mind a flock of bats hanging from the ceiling of a cave or something similar So then, what's the deal with these units? Are they well known among Tek fanatics? Are they still relevant for current day technicians who restore vintage scopes? Are there many collectors interested in test equipment like this that never had a public production run? I wouldn't even know where to start in terms of price, as there's seemingly no record of one being listed on ebay. Would it be better to hold on to for when I inevitably make the descent into building a proper amateur bench setup? Very curious to hear from y'all, thanks! Also, is there a good way to attach photos? My first post came back saying no attachments

Used TDS520D Price? 4
I have a TDS520D ( 2 channel, 500Mhz, 2GS/sec) that I am planning to bring to a local flea market to sell. I'm trying to figure out a reasonable asking price. Doing a Google search returns a very wide range of asking prices. It boots up fine and the self-test is good. Everything on it seems to work fine but haven't verified the floppy drive or printer port are working, but I have no reason to believe that they aren't. Looking for recommendation on a reasonable asking price. Thanks, Dale
