Re: 2465B auto measurment error
I would adjust the trigger and see if it can reach the very edges of a sine wave. If it stops triggering before the peaks then something is out of calibration or hopefully not busted. Mine is off a

Re: 7k extenders
Jerry, Thanks. I've just been through this with John. I bought the parts for TM500 extenders but, as you said, he is out of connectors for the 7xxx extenders. I think I need to find a source for the

Re: 2465B auto measurment error
Yes, I believe that is correct. Maybe pull the U500 and clean the contacts carefully? Does it do the same for all the channels? Do you have or can get a spare U500? Tom

Re: 2465B auto measurment error
That is how I remember it but it might be worth going through the theory section in the service manual to confirm it. The automatic peak to peak trigger level is set to the average of the positive and

Dave, I got my connectors and paddle boards from John griesson. I understand your desire for your own work. me too. I do not think John will have have anytime soon. I asked him for 5 more sets and he

Re: 2465B auto measurment error
Doesn't it use the trigger functions to do the auto voltage measurements ? I thought it just adjusted the trigger voltage up and down until it found the peaks of where it could trigger and then just

Where else could one post the phrase "Danger Will Robinson Danger" with the expectation that a majority of the audience would understand the reference?

With the talk about magnets, etc. I started thinking (Danger Will Robinson Danger). Perhaps judicious application of heat to the pin/neck may get the two pieces closer together as well. As a word of

Re: 2465B auto measurment error
Did you try to re-do the vertical calibration? Can you look at the waveform during the measurement process to see if it is loading the input down? Strange one. Hope you find it. Tom

7k extenders
Hi, Heads up guys. Some guys said they may want to get one of my 7k extenders. What may be the last one is on ebay, item 290836441070 closes tomorrow. The other 2 remaining have been spoken for. Jerry

Re: 2246 Mod A - Is it OK to replace just one SMPS switching transistor?
Hi Priya, Do your TIP41C's have heat sinks on them? If so, do the heat sinks have some thermal paste between the heat sinks and the TIP41C's? Some of the early 224x's did not have heat sinks, and

Re: 7587 Nuvistor Tetrode Substitutions in the Tektronix 184 Time-Mark Generator
The heaters are always on though so I am not sure how much difference having the tubes in cutoff most of the time would make. I have a full set of characteristic curves which show just above 20mA at

Re: 2246 Mod A - Is it OK to replace just one SMPS switching transistor?
Replaced both transistors and had it running all afternoon with the cooling fan as a load - internal floating voltage is steady at 44.2V. Next to validate that there are no shorts in the main board

The Lecroy/PMK probes are just cat 1, with pollution degree 1, while the Tek has cat 2 I believe. I'm measuring on points that have much less insulation than the probe, in low energy circuits, so that

Re: Tek 154-0812-00 Storage CRT
If you get anyway near Belair, give me a yell at 443-250-6381. I have some old neon sign transformers that may do just right. We could dummy it up in the garage and see if the tab can be deformed. Tom

Re: 7587 Nuvistor Tetrode Substitutions in the Tektronix 184 Time-Mark Generator
You may want to try swapping tubes from the other spots too, although it seems they're all biased for the same operating conditions, so should wear at the same rate - but if they are only on when
