Re: Just got a tek 555 for free, and in need of some advice!
ill look into 3-in-one oil, i think ive seen some before around the machine shop at my university. I see that you painted the carts of your 555 scopes? this might come off as another dumb question,

Re: Just got a tek 555 for free, and in need of some advice!
first I would like to say thank you for the very clear advice. I have been slowly going through the manual since the day i got the scope, but i definitely need to read it thoroughly instead of just

Re: Video triggering of 'scopes in general
Look at the LM1881 video sync IC for more ideas on good ole NTSC stuff. This is one of the most elaborate, yet simple to use ICs for decoding and triggering of video signals, and National's datasheet

Bench test the 7904 power supply.
I know this has been asked before.. and the answer is always something like "We cover this a number of times" But frankly I can't find any reference to it. What I am trying to do is test a couple of

Re: Video triggering of 'scopes in general
John, ? I would like to request a copy of the 453 Mod 127C Schematic.? I still have some NTSC gear around and want to see how Tek implemented sync separation, for possible inclusion into a

Re: OT: J511 current regulator diode (FET) temperature coefficient
I have had experience using LM317Z and LM337Z voltage regulators as two terminal current sources but not in applications like this. The LT3092 data sheet says if you bypass rSet to reduce noise then

Re: 545B Repair
Hello, I have repaired the low voltage power supply, the problem was in a 6080 tube V737A. I have replaced this tube and voltage are ok. For future repair and check purpose, have anyone the current

Re: OT: J511 current regulator diode (FET) temperature coefficient
Hi Don, That's definitely my "do next" item, though the 2N2907 looks like a reasonable substitute for the original BCY70 The following is an extract from an email I received from an Ametek

Brushing with a soft paint brush while vacuuming works well. Don Black.

Re: OT: J511 current regulator diode (FET) temperature coefficient
Perhaps the odd replacement transistor is upsetting the channel balance so the common mode bias change is resulting in a signal output. Try replacing it with the correct transistor now you have it and

Information about the 015-0338-00 Summing Fixture is appreciated.
Hi to all, Till now it seems that knowbody in this group has any information about this device, which is used to verify the performance on the 067-0587-xx Signal Standardizers. Therefore again this

Re: Are 465B's for restoration or real use?
You have a quality instrument in front of you, not a yugo. I can assure you it will not "fall apart in multiple ways". All it needs is some minimum attention, given the life of the instrument it is

Re: Some problems with recently acquired 465
The first thing you always should do is checking ll the powersupply rails for voltage and ripple current. This is also always the first chapter of the calibration proces. You probably have some

Are 465B's for restoration or real use?
Hi- Are the 465B's worth repairing for general use or is it more a labor of love to preserve these machines? I have a Tek 465B (SN 111031) that I use casually. Originally I think it was from UK

Re: Some problems with recently acquired 465
Hi - Did you ever resolve the unstable intensity problem? I have the same problem in my 465B. The intensity will toggle from normal to super-bright randomly.

Re: tektronix 2445 help
Well, he could most likely part out the good hybrids, attenuaters, power supply & fan, the A5 board, HV power supply, and the CRT for enough to buy a working 2465 and lunch. Especially in Italy. Or

Re: tektronix 2445 help
I question whether replacing U800 on a 2445 is worth the labor and the cost of the device. I suppose if it's a beloved family heirloom would make it about the only reason to keep it working.
