Interesting. Now that you got me thinking about it, I noticed one other important difference: The original CRT has a round CRT in the logo, and the replacement has a square CRT in the logo (confirming my suspicion that the replacement is newer).
I didn't see those markings echoed anywhere else on the tube, but there is an embossed label toward the front of the CRT (visible only when removed). Old = '12 A 5' New = '503 B 59' Anyone know when the official logo cross-over happened? PS - I just got first trace on a 661. Totally unrelated, just braggin' |

Hi Paul,
You mention the difference in CRT slide pads (6 versus 5) while the part numbers are the same 154-0410-00. I don't remember the layout of my 564 CRTs and it's not visible when the CRT is installed. I only inspected some yellow labels, 2 x 564 and 1 x 564B. Non of these show the type number T5640-200 or T5641-200. Maybe a separate label somehere? There is an "artists impression" of the 564 (I think) CRT at the first page of the 1963 catalog, ressembling your old CRT. At internet I saw photo's of the 564B CRT still having six contacts. Really need help with a Tek 2216
this is a very late digital scope, with multiplexed front panel controls, and 4 vertical channels. I have (incredibly) the tek user manual, but what I NEED is a cal manual, as this unit is out of calibration. It's very handy (although not too fast), so I'd like to hang onto it for bench use here, but I really need to adjust it properly, right now I have about a 20% vertical deflection error. very annoying.
it is surprisingly noisy in the digital mode, but does have print capability, store and reference and lot of nice features. the fan is noisy, that I have to fix. weirdly, it is the only Tek scope I have seen that DOES NOT have a lighted graticule, even though the CRT has one. anybody that has a service manual or cal instructions, I would really like to hear from you! it is not like the 2214 at all, so that unit won't help. nothing on the tek site, and the only document I have found on the web is the same user manual I already have. rats! all help appreciated! walter (walter2 -at- sphere.bc.ca) sphere research corp. |

Newer systems use a recovery partition instead of a CD or DVD. But you can

I think that I may have a Dell recovery disk. If I do I can make a copy and send it to you. It will only work on a genuine Dell computer. There is a hidden partition on the hard drive with the OS and other programs files in a compressed format located on it. The recovery disk accesses that partition and re-installs the OS off of the partition. The sticker is required by MS and it is about piracy but from MS and not from Dell. I don't like not having an actual OS disk and then additional disks with their programs on them but Dell would have to had sent several disks with their computers. Their setup allows the computer to be connected to a network and all of this done with scripts by just one or two people doing a thousand computers at one time. When I do a reinstall I have to be near by to push buttons and keys. It takes hours for me to restore just one computer. In fact I can restore ten computers almost as fast as I can do one computer. In and Outs of a SCALCF1 Calibration Fixture. Anybody?
Hi to All,
Just outbidded on a set of four on these :<(. Nevertheless I am still interested in how it works? My Manual Vendors have no Manual on this one (SI5020 and AT5010 Manuals no problem). The SCALCF1 was part of the SCAL102 ScopeCal System (page 369 1993 Product Catalog) and was GPIB Programmable. Its Front has some similarities with another Calibration Fixture: the 067-0184-00. This last one was not GPIB Programmable and pictures of it can be seen on one of Yahoos Photoalbums. Maybe the 067-184-00 Fixture was used to calibrate SCALCF1's. I bought mine for 80 euro's at the largest electronics fair in the Netherlands. It was 120, but nobody wanted it. At the end i offered 80 and that was accepted. Came with a new matching probe too :). It missed some buttons and one of the input attenuators was toast. Got the attenuator and replaced all caps. Instead of finding buttons, i bought the whole pannel with the buttons from a supplier in Israel. Obviously somebody missed the that part with the hammer...
Still have the old pannel and it has the three largest buttons. The sec/dev is not completely straight, but usable. Give a shout on what you find. |

If it really bothers you, you can go through the verification procedure, which, in the worst case, may involve a long toll-free telephone call. Just follow any instructions you're given on the web links.
I've had a couple of Dell refurbs and two of them required reverification. Because of the proprietary hardware, they're not the best bet for a Linux install. RL |
