Re: MSO4104 Problems
I think the best hope for this scope is to see if there is a way to get it back to how it was before the firmware update. I have no idea if this is possible, but this scope was useable before the

453 scope, MOD 703K and MOD 703H
have a trio of Tek 453's. Two are MOD 703K and the other is MOD 703H.
I have had one of the 703K's on my bench for many years. Of late, it has developed trigger issues. I can only get a stable

Generally, another ground with intentions of stability.? When replacing with a two lead capacitor, make sure that both grounds are shorted together.? Tek often used the two leads as a ground

Re: How to clean the finger contacts on an SG503
The cardstock that I use is Vellum Bristol. Neenah Exact Vellum Bristol, specifically, and I picked up a bundle of it at Sam¡¯s club a few years ago. Most office supply stores will probably have

Re: Tektronix 2247A problem. Keep or return?
I got to sit down with my 2247A this afternoon and have come to the conclusion that above all else, the power supply needs some attention. All of the LV supply rails, with the +7.5V rail being the

Re: How to clean the finger contacts on an SG503
If I remember it properly, the SC504 has a very odd switching mechanism, not really fingers but a conductive elastomer.? The scope was originally spec'd to go to 100 MHz, but the contacts limited the

Re: Tektronix 547 Lack of Sweep or Intensity Control
Hi Gordon,
Going back to the unblanking circuit again, diode D831 was added at a later date and may not actually be in your 547. This protects the circuit from damage due to arcing discharge, in

Re: How to clean the finger contacts on an SG503
Thankfully, cleaning seemed to have done the trick in my case. No more flashing 000's and the switch works in all positions.

Re: How to clean the finger contacts on an SG503
Your problem might not be dirty contacts. I recently found that my cam barrel had deteriorated and actually had shrunk. The end of the can barrel serves as a bushing that fits into the mounting

Re: How to clean the finger contacts on an SG503
Interesting, I wonder why that is? Obviously contact cleaner wouldn't be a great idea for these type of contacts but I'm curious why paper wouldn't be recommended. Too abrasive?

Re: How to clean the finger contacts on an SG503
I can't answer that question (I'm sure others can), but ISTR that the paper
cleaning method should not be used on some TM-5xx(x) plug-ins.

Re: How to clean the finger contacts on an SG503
A question for the next time I need to clean Tek finger contacts, is there a recommended 'type' or thickness of paper to clean the contacts? I used whatever garden variety paper that I had on my bench

Alright, I answered my own question. It looks like you can easily get at the finger contacts from the side of the switch that is next to the big vari cap. I was easily able to get a piece of paper

Looking at the service manual, it looks like the fingers on the cam side would be in the open position between switch detents. I'm thinking I can carefully slide a piece of paper in between the

Thanks for uploading these files. I had to get them via my ipad as my PC wouldn't let me download them. So I did it via icloud (never used icloud before). This worked fine. Thanks
