Re: lithium thionyl chloride battery sub
Couldnt agree more Siggi! Cell technologies are completely different, a backup battery needs to trickle a small amount of current over a very long time. 18650 cells are not meant for that at all,

Re: Tek 7L5 for Sale
I don't consider the 7L5 to be an antique, certainly not when compared to the?851A/8551A and the early Tek/Nelson-Ross/Pentrix SAs. Got a chance to actually use the Tiny SA last week; I had to

Re: A Tale of Two 7D14s
Barry, Change the resistors that are out of tolerance to see if that makes a difference since you say they are almost double the rated tolerance. A "bad" transistor can work in one area and not

A Tale of Two 7D14s
One of my 7D14s was gating properly; however, the other one would not and, in the one that would not gate, I traced this down to the signal at U733A's "S" pin. The negative-going pulse was only going

This may be a unique fault and not directly useful for any future reference, but sometimes I enjoy reading how someone worked through a problem. Maybe someone will like to read this. I bought a 5A26

Re: 5111A Horizontal BW limit.
Sounds like a pretty thorough determination of where the slow is. Horizontal bw is supposed to ~match vertical bw. Because they're pretty much the same circuits. But apart from a vertical amp in the

Re: OT: PID motor control
Yes all true - I *think* I may have worked out the problem - 512 ticks is only 4 revolutions of the motor. At that level the PWM (PID output) has to overcome the motor's initial reluctance to start

Re: lithium thionyl chloride battery sub
This is the exact reason i rejected the return requests with ebay. He is now selling it with this claiming its "good for a few yrs" https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133989860762 Not fit for purpose at all.

Hello, It is Taylor_D2010 here.. Just thought i would clarify a few things Paul (quadzillatech/M3VUV) has said. I sold him a Tek 2430 Scope on ebay. I mistakenly wrote 2430A, however all photos

Re: tek 577 non linear behavior in both vertical and horizontal deflection amplifiers
Just my 2 cents. First 200V is sitting on top of 30V, so make sure to look at 30V (since your 200V is high). Look at voltage ripple on the big rectifier caps, maybe they are dried out. I see that they

Re: Tek 7L5 for Sale
Niels, I concur with Miguel's estimate. I've bid on a couple of these over the past few months on eBay, and they've all gone for more than $200 (US). The asking prices are upwards of $500, and that is

Re: OT: PID motor control
You're overthinking it. Most of the time you can tune a PID controller manually with way less effort then it would take to model the system mathematically and then prove that the model is correct. For

I would be interested too! Any photos? I would rather say around 400 euros. I've seen quite a few 7L5 sold for more or less 300 euros on ebay.

Re: tek 577 non linear behavior in both vertical and horizontal deflection amplifiers
I have a 577 that is a very early serial number "B0100124" and it has some issues with convergence of the calibration. I have tracked this down to lots of out of spec components on the analog board
