Re: Warren’s Conversion
开云体育Warren With all due respect the most common failure would be the belt itself, followed by the tensioner, followed by the cogged pulley. And yes why green ? I consider Japan made Aisin oem in my head. At least quality equivalent or like you said the exact same. Water pump for example, seems to be made by them and is top quality. Another item Subaru mechanics will tell you never fails, but never is a long time? John? On Wed, Jan 29, 2025 at 7:20?AM SubieVanagon via groups.io <wklail@...> wrote:

Re: Warren’s Conversion
I am definitely going to include one of those Evil Energy oil catch cans when I install my engine. Interestingly, on Amazon someone mentions that some of the black ones are inferior (cannot use the steel wool) but that the red one is a better build quality. I don’t have personal experience with one but I’ll order the red one just in case.?

Re: Warren’s Conversion
Mrsubaru1387 on YouTube only uses the Aisin kit because all the components are OEM. As a former Subaru tech he seems to know what he’s doing. ?Now he’s a YouTube guy with 420,000 subscribers. And he’s produced 1,100 videos. I turn to his channel often.?

Re: Warren’s Conversion
He is asking about the green one in this photo. It is Aisin, which makes the components for Subaru, Toyota, and others. I’m not sure about why it is green?? But I have read (or saw a video) that that toothed pulley is the most common failure point in the timing system on SOHC Subaru engines).?

Subaru Wiring conversion
Hello,
I'm currently working on a harness conversion from a 2004 Impreza, EJ25 SOHC, gong into a '91 Vanagon.
As I was cleaning up the wiring harness, I came across some cut wires, that were leading back to 2 components. Both of theses were originally located on the left engine bay in Impreza.
I believe, one is a Fuel Injector Resistor and the other one, I can't find a name on it. I have a product # B31037-00100-00. Both have wires leading back to the engine connectors. Unfortunately, I can't find any pin out for the engine connectors and my wiring diagram doesn't have both of these items.?
Is there any documentation available? I assume both of these should/ are required for the conversion?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
?Thanks again |
Re: Warren’s Conversion
开云体育Look at catch cans on Amazon and you’ll see them, and then look up Subaru catch cans on YouTube. Mostly guys put them on the turbo 2.5 but you could use them on the NA. You’d plumb it after the PCV but before the T if you have a T? On Sun, Jan 26, 2025 at 7:08?AM SubieVanagon via groups.io <wklail@...> wrote:

Re: Warren’s Conversion
It's not a filter, it's an oil/water separator. Looking at your pic it looks like the PCV is on top of the stack coming from the block. I take it this then connects to the intake manifold. The catch can would go inline between the PCV and the intake manifold. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/EVIL-ENERGY-Universal-Reservoir-Aluminum/dp/B081N3BNXR?th=1 |
Installing pilot bearing in KEP Flywheel
I'm replacing the pilot bearing in a kep flywheel.? ?It has been on a shelf for a while so it may be contaminated.
?
When removing the old one I was a bit surprised how much it deformed, so I'm a smidge concerned about installing the new one.
?
Should I use my press, or a nut and bolt, or hammer with a small plate?

Re: Warren’s Conversion
开云体育On my motor the pcv is in the intake so there really isn’t an in between. They moved it to the intake I believe after 2004. Would you still suggest this on the older design where the pcv threads into the intake ?? On Sat, Jan 25, 2025 at 10:37?PM Wayne Sitarz via groups.io <wesitarz@...> wrote:
