Re: Help Identifying Conversion History 1986 Syncro with 6cyl Subaru
Here is Facebook Marketplace ad from 2019. (I think I got a good deal too)

Re: Help Identifying Conversion History 1986 Syncro with 6cyl Subaru
Has the valve for the rear locker on the Rancho rebuild transmission and I bought an actuator. Need vacuum lines and electric to dash. Would appreciate if someone has a pencil line drawing or schematic showing what I need to make it work. Bought a retro dash pod from campervan culture in u.k. And I see user ALIKA, FROM Hawaii on Samba selling switches, but I am a bit at a loss on how to make it work. Would love to get into decoupler world, but it looks like entry fee for that is $1,000.00!
any help appreciated.? |

Re: rear springs
I installed the 2WD Westy springs from Schwenk along with XHD Bilstiens in spring this year on my 87 2WD Westy, as well as every ball joint, tie rod end, bushing, sway bar with T3's HD bar and end links, and all new hardware everywhere. ?I had a tremendous amout of sag, bouncing, and roll, along with a horrible squeek in the front end. ?After replacing everything the van handles quite well. ?The XHD Bilstiens are a bit harsh of small bumps at higher speeds, but overall pretty nice, I think i will look into T3's adjustable shocks for my next round of suspension fixing. ?I do plan on adding .5-.75" spaces front and rear to bring the overal height up a bit, I am running 225 70r/16s and they can rub on full turn with articulation or a heavy passenger!

Re: rear springs
David I replaced my all my springs with the Schwenk about 10 years ago,?2WD. They have been excellent. Then a put an SVX motor in and the rear was sagging a little. I consulted Schwenk directly and they recommended replacing the rears with their?new design. I was able to get a set of rear only from Burley. It didn't help--height?was about the same, so I installed 1/2" of spacers and that is what it took. At the same time I installed a set of Burley's Raflo Shocks. The shocks absolutely?transformed the ride and handling--I was amazed. Other than the engine, the shocks have been the best of?all the mods I have done over the years. Expensive, but worth it. rear springs
I
looked at the digest and many of the rear spring threads are pretty old.
Is there new information out there? I am most likely sitting on
original springs front and back (84 westie, ej22 conversion, VW
transaxle). The rear end really drops when starting out in 1st gear.
GoWesty specifically their springs are not for vehicles with engine
conversions. Small Car has springs for 'spirited' driving (not sure if I
do that). Does anyone have any other recommendations? I did the rear
springs in the 84 tin top I have (1.9 WB) this past summer because one broke so
I have the bug to do the westie. Thanks.

This intake spider is from an 01 to 04 Legacy/outback H6 3.0. It¡¯s aluminum so not 05 or later, which are black plastic. Single port exhaust, w/extended skirt. Me, too! I wonder if it was a Tintop converted to a camper because of the way the top raises up? It also seems rounded, as if from a bay window. The fuel tank is in an odd location, too. And the expansion tank is a relatively new offering. Looks like a RMW tank. Interesting history. . ..
