I have been following this thread with interest. I am a novice in the area of fuel injection but having read far too many articles on the topic I have become convinced injectors should be "Flow Matched" a.k.a."Blueprinted", a.k.a. "Spray-Pattern Matched" whenever possible. Extreme turbo users have claimed burnt valves and fried pistons from low flow on a cylinder due to non-matched injectors, and while the average non-performance user will probably not experience these extreme difficulties I have become convinced performance can be hindered by poor injector matching. Here is a site that sells matched injectors. I am sure there are others.

05 first year (electronic gas pedal), 04 is the last year with the Impreza black plastic air plenum.

Typical intake until 05 Typical intake after 04 This is one reason that Hans from Vanaru design his own part. We had it with the current "part provider" 2 years ago, we had to modified everything to fit late engine. This was Hans first prototype: (no more welding on the 2 side mount) Ben --- In subaruvanagon@..., Craig Morton <rangermorton1972@...> wrote:

Not sure which year the change took place but yes ~ the height diff' is totally due to a taller IntakeManifold & Injector assembly.

I made a fuel injector holder/tester out of an old fuel rail,

so I can energize and test them just like you would on a waterboxer engine .. that is ...connect the fuel rail with injector into the fuel line. 'T - ' ing works just fine. Hot wire the fuel pump or energize it somehow .. Then use jumper wires with 12 volts to energize the fuel injector manually. be very careful as you have loose electricity and gasoline.. very easy to start a fire this way ..so be super careful with a couple of fire extinguishers handy. then ...tap on it ...click it off and on with the 12 volts on the jumper wire ... 10 attempts like that got half a dozen of them working for me. if you want to do it right, build a dedicated test stand . how did you "unstick" them. I have a few extra ones with good impedance readings, but don't work. I'm guessing they are stuck. -Andy Malec --- In subaruvanagon@..., Scott Daniel - Turbovans <ScottDaniel@...> wrote:

Does anyone know what year the taller engines appeared? Is the difference in the intake assembly?

I will add that you can modify the front trans mount on a manual trans to lower the front of the motor without any ill effects. You can actually just add a spacer between the crossmember and the trans mount and longer bolts. CV angle is virtually unchanged. I suspect you can do the same thing on an auto trans. This may allow you to use than 2 in. spacers in the rear of the engine area. Hope that might help. Neil |

Has anyone had any issues closing the deck lid with the RMW installation kit and an EJ25 engine?

Re: Fuel Injector choices...
I had good luck spraying them with WD-40/prenatrating oil or simular and twist a few times with a light grip from large vice grips. I then insert a huge screw driver thru the gap of the open jaws and injector and pry up lightly with the screw driver. You will slightly mark the plastic and could potential do worse to the plastic. But my damage was superfical. I didn't see any special tool that was affordable, so removing the intakes and pressing out is better if you dont' like my first idea.

Mine is a weirdstuffwemake version, but basically the same.
My 2000 SOHC works fine with it. On a side note I did not like the SC one I had installed. I had some problems getting it to pick up the signal and engine never seemed to run correctly. ?
