Location: West Mojave Desert
30~ Hours/Week

Nonprofit organizations requires a part-time Archeologist (average 30 hours per week) to assist with off-highway vehicle restoration projects on public lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in the West Mojave Desert.

Friends of Jawbone (FOJ) and Friends of El Mirage (FOEM) are non-profit organizations in support of off-highway vehicle recreation in the West Mojave Desert. Among our activities are restoration projects on public lands managed by the BLM. Each year we restore 20-30 miles of motorized routes that are designated closed, with current projects in the Jawbone, Rand Mountains, El Paso Mountains, El Mirage, and Stoddard Valley regions. Pay rate between $23 and $27 an hour based on experience and qualifications. There are no housing or relocation packages offered for this position.

Responsibilities Include:

- Self-navigating backcountry roads to specific proposed restoration worksites; vehicle provided
- Perform cultural clearance surveys
- Report and coordinate results to BLM cultural staff
- Ability to work independently but as a member of a team

Qualifications:

- A Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Archaeology, anthropology, history or related field
- Previous experience performing and documenting cultural field surveys, preferably for BLM offices in the Southwestern U.S.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in challenging conditions and terrain
- Familiarity with ESRI mapping and data management tools
- Possesses valid CA driver’s license and good driving record

Harris Environmental Group (HEG) is looking to hire six Archaeological Field Technicians for multiple cultural resources survey projects in New Mexico and Arizona

Crews will primarily be working 8-day sessions, Thursday to Thursday, at 10-hours per day (including rated paid travel time). The pay rate for field technicians is consistent with SCA wage rates for project counties, including, but not limited to, Navajo, Apache and Gila counties, AZ. Techs will earn SCA wage rates plus Health and Wellness stipends for an average total of $22-25+/hour. Wage rates are determined by SCA wage determinations for the assigned project locations.

*Ideal candidates will be located in or around Arizona or New Mexico as we are not able to fly techs in and out for field sessions, nor do we provide for housing in-between scheduled field sessions.

Field Technicians are responsible for assisting the Crew Chief in identifying and recording cultural resources in the field. This includes identifying and documenting all types of regional artifacts and features, thoroughly filling out appropriate site forms, site/artifact photography, navigating survey transects with Garmin GPS, and mapping sites using Trimble GPS.

Qualifications:

? Bachelor’s Degree in archaeology, anthropology, or related field

? Accredited field school (preferred)

? At least 12 months of supervised experience in CRM pedestrian survey (preferred)
? Ability to work in hot conditions, inclement weather, and remote locations
? Ability to hike up to 10 miles a day in rugged terrain while carrying up to 40 lbs. of gear and water (required)

EDR is seeking experienced, team-oriented?Field Archaeologists?with demonstrated expertise to provide support to the EDR Cultural Resources practice area by assisting with archaeological fieldwork, laboratory analysis and/or office work. Reports to the Principal for Cultural Resources via the Archaeology Services Leader and Field Supervisors. This role would be an hourly position (March through December, weather dependent) based in the Northeastern United States.

Field Archaeologists provide support for field investigations, and in some instances, associated laboratory and/or office work. Schedule and Compensation

A Cultural Resources Project Director position is available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) to support Joint Region Marianas (JRM) on the Island of Guam. This position shall provide on-site technical support and assistance to the JRM Cultural Resources Manager (CRM) regarding activities related to the Programmatic Agreement between the Commander, Joint Region Marianas and the Guam State Historic Preservation Officer, Regarding Military Training and Testing on and within the Surrounding Waters of the Island of Guam, including research and assessment of potential impacts to cultural resources by military training and testing within the JRM Area of Responsibility (AOR). This is a full-time appointment primarily located on Guam, but the employee may be deployable to other areas within the JRM AOR, which includes nearby islands in the US Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). Oversight and management of the Cultural Resources Program support on military lands within JRM AOR is the primary duty for this position. Guam has a substantial military presence consisting of three major military installations – Naval Base Guam, Andersen Air Force Base, and Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz. Each year major military training exercises are conducted within the JRM AOR where large quantities of military equipment and other materials are transported into Guam and the CNMI.

The Cultural Resources Project Director will provide leadership and oversight of up to five (5) full-time CEMML staff, including archaeologists, GIS specialists, and technicians. Working closely with the JRM Cooperative Agreement Technical Representative (CATR), the Cultural Resources Project Director will direct and coordinate execution of tasks in accordance with the terms of the Cooperative Agreement between CEMML and JRM Cultural Resources Group.

This position includes a combination of office and field activities, including field and subject matter expertise and methodologies, team supervision and training, reporting and documentation, communication and coordination with CEMML team and DoD sponsor, fieldwork supervision, consultation and coordination with SHPO, and project planning and project schedule and timelines.

This position will be responsible for oversight and management of CEMML staff, project budget and expenditures, coordinating with CEMML Principal Investigator and JRM CATR to develop project goals, objectives, and timelines, as well as generating and reviewing deliverables in compliance with the Cooperative Agreement Scope of Work and professional standards.

Archaeology Technician - Central Indiana

 

Weintraut & Associates, Inc. is currently accepting resumes for field technicians from Fall through Winter months. Technicians must be comfortable working in rugged terrain and in all kinds of weather, and regional experience is preferred.

* Work will begin immediately.
* Typical work week is four, 10-hour days.
* Four nights of hotel will be provided per week for out-of-town applicants.
* Per diem will be $41/ day cash (no receipts) for out-of-town applicants.

The minimum requirement is an undergraduate degree in archaeology or an associated field. Field school or fieldwork experience and knowledge of GIS will be considered a plus.

Preference will be given to those with burial experience and/or a Master's in archaeology or anthropology.

Archaeological field technician for Phase II survey in walton county, FL

Project Description and Schedule

UES is hiring field technicians to help conduct a Phase II archaeological survey in Walton County, FL. The Phase II work will consist of digging additional shovel tests and 1x1-meter test units to delineate and evaluate sites discovered during the Phase I. We have project-specific work opportunities that will develop into career-trajectory placement for the right person. The Phase II will start on Monday, July 29, 2024, and will last until Friday, August 2, 2024.

Compensation

The hourly wage for this project will be between $23 and $27, commensurate with experience and attitude. UES’ preference is for field techs local to the area but will consider applications from non-local techs. For non-local techs, UES will pay for drive time and accommodation near the project area, along with $60 per diem and will provide daily transport to and from the site. Non-local field techs will be responsible for arranging their travel to and from the project area at the beginning and end of the field session. This opportunity is fast approaching so apply today! Responsibilities

·??????? Conduct shovel testing and 1x1-m test unit excavations under the supervision of a UES field director.

·??????? Identify artifacts and site boundaries.

·??????? Record shovel tests, test units, and site forms using UES-provided digital data collection systems.

·??????? Perform cursory artifact analysis (e.g., quantification, attribute analysis, photographs, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications

·??????? Ability to perform manual labor associated with shovel testing, screening, and pedestrian survey in a range of environmental conditions.

·??????? Attention to detail and good communication skills.

·??????? Ability to work in a collaborative environment.

·??????? Basic proficiency in digital field data collection.

·??????? Basic proficiency in navigation/orienting (using a compass and GPS).

Preferred Qualifications

·??????? A BA in archaeology, anthropology, or a related field is preferred but is not necessary if the applicant has one or more years of experience in CRM.

·??????? 6-12 months previous archaeological experience on Phase I/Phase II surveys in Florida or the Southeast.

·??????? Ability to identify precontact and historic artifacts of the Southeast US.
