Statistical Research, Inc. (SRI), a multidisciplinary cultural resource consulting firm, is looking to increase our roster of on-call Crew Leads for upcoming projects in northern Central California, e.g. Mariposa, Merced, Tuolumne, and Stanislaus counties. Work in this region will primarily consist of archaeological monitoring and survey. SRI provides comprehensive CRM services to private and government clients at the federal, state, and local levels throughout the western United States with additional offices in Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Washington.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

?

Qualified candidates should possess, at minimum, a bachelor¡¯s degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a related field. Candidates must also have a minimum of 2 years of field experience supervising monitoring, survey, testing, and/or data recovery projects in and be physically fit and able to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (i.e., extreme heat or cold). Candidates should also have good organizational skills, a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn and execute new tasks. Prior experience in California is required.

Job Description:

The position of Crew Lead is responsible for assisting Project Directors in implementing survey, testing, monitoring, and data recovery plans and for coordinating through the appropriate channels all field and analytic tasks associated with fieldwork, analysis, and report preparation. For small-sized projects, the crew lead may also assume many of the tasks typically assigned to a project director, though he or she still works under the supervision of a project director. For larger projects, the crew lead works with a project director and/or principal investigator and the project manager to ensure that all tasks associated with project implementation are accomplished professionally and in a timely and fiscally responsible manner.

  • Supervise and lead field staff
  • Conduct archaeological survey
  • Conduct archaeological monitoring
  • Must be able to identify prehistoric and historical-period artifacts and features in the field.
  • Record the locations of artifacts and features using a global positioning system (GPS) receiver.
  • Survey 123 familiarity a plus
  • Complete field forms accurately and concisely

Compensation:

?

The hourly rate for this position is $25 - $31 per hour, depending on experience. Daily food allowance and lodging, when applicable based on the project, will be provided during field sessions. All employees are eligible to accrue PTO hours.
