Archaeological Excavations - the Roman City of Zeugma, Turkey

Oxford Archaeological Unit are managing the rescue excavations at Roman
Zeugma on levels of the city that will be affected by the rising waters
of the Birecik dam. The excavations that are currently underway will run
to October. While the archaeological remains are spectacular - rich
Roman buildings sealed by hill wash deposits - conditions are hot!

OAU still require skilled excavators (to start immediately) - previous
experience of working abroad would be helpful but not essential.

In addition to good levels of remuneration, flight expenses and full
board & accommodation are fully covered.

qualifications and experience. Benefits include holidays, sick leave,
vacation, 401k, bonus plan, health and disability insurance, and
professional development opportunities.

Responsibilities include managing and supervising background
research,
survey and excavation fieldwork, and laboratory analysis; coordinating

be
required, with some longer field sessions.

Preferred qualifications include a Master's or Ph.D. degree in
archaeology
and 2-3 years of experience in CRM, preferably involving Section 106
compliance projects in the Northwest. Needs to meet SOI standards for
