Full-Time Archaeologist (Houston, Texas) Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities Cypress Environmental Consulting is seeking a full-time, salaried Archaeologist/Principal Investigator to join our team. In this position, you will conduct anthropological and archaeological site assessments utilizing background information and field techniques in connection with locating, testing, recording, mapping, and evaluating archaeological sites and supporting field surveys and monitoring during construction. This position includes field surveys (pedestrian, shovel test, and mechanical trench surveys) using Trimble GPS units and Terrasync data collection software, preparing technical reports, and communicating results for appropriate site recommendations. This position will be based in our Houston, Texas office with responsibilities that also include travel for fieldwork associated with local and statewide/regional projects. ? This position requires the ability to work in difficult or remote environments, and in varying weather conditions and the ability to work with groups composed of diverse backgrounds. This field director position work will be primarily based in Northern Virginia so ideal candidates should be based in the vicinity. Candidates??should be SOI qualified (or at the very minimum have a master¡¯s degree or substantial experience) and have a firm understanding of laws such as section 106 of the NRHP. Project Description and Schedule UES has an immediate project need for an experienced archaeological monitor for ongoing construction activities at the Naval Air Station (NAS) in Pensacola, Florida. The monitoring must start on Monday 4/21/2025 and is expected to last two days. However, monitoring needs at the base are ongoing and this role has the potential to grow into permanent positions with UES- the fastest growing environmental consulting firm in the U.S.! As part of this monitor role, the successful applicant will conduct cultural resources monitoring tasks that include coordinating with construction crews, monitoring construction progress, maintaining detailed records, and documenting discoveries of cultural resources. UES monitors use tablets for data collection and daily logs, adhere to state and local protocols for site recording, and assist in evaluations for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). This position offers on-call, hourly, temporary-status employment for the duration of the monitoring project. UES offers a huge potential for additional work and career opportunities.
