Archaeological/Historical Consultants seeks an Archaeologist II to join our team. We are a small, full-service cultural resources management firm based in Oakland, California, with work primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area and nearby counties. Our practice is focused on cultural resources studies for development and transportation projects. Our diverse client base includes planners, developers, engineers, non-profit organizations, and government agencies. ? Job Description The Archaeologist II will manage archaeological sensitivity assessments, archaeological survey reports, and archaeological monitoring reports from beginning to end. Fieldwork assignments will include archaeological surveys, monitoring, and testing. You will independently write record search summaries and fieldwork narratives; help plan and execute archaeological fieldwork; perform historical, genealogical, archaeological, and ethnographic research; and manage personal time budgets with minimal supervision. You should be familiar with Section 106 and the CEQA Guidelines. You will work on multiple projects simultaneously and be expected to multitask. Training and supervision will be provided by senior staff as needed. ? The role will include a mix of fieldwork, in-person office work, and remote office work. ? Qualifications We are looking for archaeologists with a minimum BA in Archaeology or Anthropology and at least 2 years of experience, preferably in California. An MA/MS is preferred. You should have previous experience with cultural resources technical reports, and be able to demonstrate strong writing skills and an ability to quickly learn new formats. Good working relationships with Bay Area Native American tribes are a plus. ? To excel in this role, you should be detail-oriented, take excellent notes, follow deadlines, and be able to complete assigned tasks independently. You should be physically able to participate in fieldwork including walking long distances, standing for long periods of time, and lifting up to 40 pounds. This position requires excellent writing and editing skills and proficiency in major software suites including Word, Excel, and Acrobat. Experience with GIS is a plus. Archaeology Technician, Sequoia National Forest- Great Basin Institute
Job Title: Archaeology Technician, Sequoia?National Forest Location: Kernville, CA Wage: $21/hour Date: Now- mid-November The Great Basin Institute, in cooperation with the USFS, is recruiting Archaeology Crew Members to complete Section 106 Cultural Resource surveys, site recording and monitoring for various projects within the Sequoia National Forest in the Sierra Nevada mountain range (USFS Region-5 locations). These projects all serve GBI's Cultural Resources Services program’s greater mission of helping the USFS in their critical goal of improving forest resilience in the face of worsening climate conditions and increased wildfire threats. The work that you will do directly improves the quality of these forests helping ensure they continue to thrive for generations to come. This work provides professional development and leadership opportunities in cultural resource management including increased exposure and responsibility enacting USFS processes, procedures and compliance measures; assisting in reporting and data entry/quality assurance and control. Expanded opportunities and exposure to additional disciplines (e.g., forestry, wildlife, hydrology, etc.) and projects may exist. Archaeology technicians perform a variety of activities to support all stages of project implementation. Crew size will range between 2-6 people. Please note that this position will be starting immediately and ending on November 20th, 2024. Primary archaeology field duties will include: - Collaborate with Archaeology crew lead and agency staff to support field safety, communication, planning, logistics, quality assurance, field implementation and reporting efforts; - Complete field surveys to document, assess and characterize the status of new cultural resources; - Monitor existing sites and complete site updates and condition assessments; - Prepare California DPR site records, GIS maps, and photographic records in addition to inputting data to the USFS heritage database. Qualifications: At Least one of the Following: - Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology or related discipline (by position start date); - Six months of professional fieldwork experience; - An accredited archaeological field school and relevant field methods training coursework. ? Other Required: - Possess a clean, valid, state-issued driver’s license; - Ability to work effectively in a team setting with USFS staff, GBI staff, interns, volunteers, academic, state, and federal partners; - Ability to work safely and productively in remote field settings under adverse conditions. This includes occasionally overnight camping in remote areas for consecutive nights; - Strong organizational skills and ability to work cooperatively as well as independently; - Proficiency in navigation using GPS, topographic map and compass. ? Preferred Qualifications: - Fieldwork experience & familiarity with the cultural history and forested habitat of the Sierra Nevada region; - Familiarity with Section 106/110 NHPA and California and/or Nevada SHPO compliance procedures; - Advanced skill using specialized software such as Microsoft Office Suite, ArcMap GIS, and Google Earth; - Ability to safely operate and maintain a 4WD vehicle on and off paved roads. 1 Archaeological Technician (Full time, permanent) – Seminole Tribe of Florida
开云体育The Seminole Tribe of Florida Tribal Historic Preservation Office is hiring for 1 permanent full time Archaeological Technician position. The incumbent in this position is responsible for performing systematic investigations of possible archeological sites, including excavation, field data collection, and data recording. Work also includes extensive use of GPS software to record spatial data. The incumbent in this position performs work in the archeological laboratory such as cleaning, counting and cataloging artifacts. The incumbent is required to report to any one of the seven (7) reservations depending on daily scheduled project work. Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Archeology, History or related field is required. A minimum of an archaeological field school is required. Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License (or can obtain one prior to hire) and be able to operate Tribal vehicles, which include 4-wheel drive trucks and all-terrain vehicles. Must be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Must have the ability to travel and work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. No per diem or lodging is provided. Fieldwork will occur on any of the reservations or trust lands, though most will be located near the Big Cypress Reservation (closest town is Clewiston) or the Brighton Reservation (closest town is Okeechobee). The hourly range for the position is $18.75-23.50. In addition, a monthly fuel stipend of $600 is available for personnel living at least 40 miles from the Big Cypress Reservation.
