Estate Items
From: Bob Werre Date: Thu, 10 Apr 2025 08:03:20 PDT As most of you know, I've walked backwards into situations with estate items or just the recently departed. & their Family matters Most have been equitable and fair dealings. The hick-ups have been both good and bad. . . The NASG has two documents about estate issues. I myself keep a simple list. I skip adding my estimate of value, since it is too hard to estimate. -- Bill Roberts, Receiver San Antonio & Aransas Pass Railway Co. * * * Notice to travelers * * * Passengers are guaranteed to ride in coaches except for the 36 miles between Alice and Falfurrias, which are crossed on mule-back. Each passenger is allowed thirty pounds of personal baggage, exclusive of blankets and arms. Passengers can obtain all necessary outfits in San Antonio.

K4 SP Decals 3
At the suggestion of other list members, I'll be ordering a set of the K4 SP boxcar decals, just to get the T&NO parts. Otherwise, I pretty much already own all the SP rolling stock I'll ever want. Would a more serious SP modeler like to split the cost and take the rest of the lettering? JGGK _._,_._,_

Modern SP locomotive headlights 2
I have a question about Southern Pacific modern locomotive headlights. I just purchased an American Flyer Legacy Southern Pacific GE U33 C. It is a very fine model and runs great. The forward head light configuration is two white headlights above the windshield vertical. Two white headlights in the nose horizontal. On the roof above the over windshield headlights is a single red light that blinks (strobes?). I also have an EMD SD 40-2 in brass with non working headlights. This I will fix someday. The white head light configuration on the SD 40-2 is similar to the U33 C. The red light on the SD 40-2 is centered above the nose headlights. I assumed the red light was for when the loco was rear facing as an end unit DPU. I bet someone out there knows everything about these lights. Can you enlighten me , please? Andrew Parker

FS: BTS MA&PA #42 2-8-0 Semikit 6
I was able to buy the late Doug Miller's assembled locomotive, and it is doubtful I shall ever build the kit I'd had for a number of years. Original list for the semikit with factory-assembled mechanism was $695 (and there will never be any more of these). I am asking $550 and shipping. JGGK

Westerfield S scale Boxcar 5
Just saw on eBay a Westerfield USRA boxcar kit posted as S scale. A warning to new S scalers. I don't think Westerfield ever made a S scale car. HO yes. S no. George Courtney

Corrugating tool 3
Hope it's OK to post something about modeling: I saw this tool on Thingiverse. For mine, I used the "smaller" version and I made the rollers taller in my slicing program. For the foil I use the lids from aluminum food trays I got from the dollar store. I have a question below - The item is at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2354062, or you can just search for "corrugated." BTW - if you use a tool like this it's common practice to "Tip the Designer," which is just below the picture in the listing. Question: When I looked up siding online it seemed like the most common size was 16 feet tall. I've never seen anything close to that in the modeling world, and it doesn't appear that way when I look at actual barn roofs etc. According to the all-knowing internet the smallest size is 8 feet tall, which is still larger than what I see on models. What do you think? -Michael

Locked Trains or Politics.........?? 21
Gents........ I suspect this gnu news will affect our ability to receive 3D-printed figures, LEDs, various other cheap small parts, etc. from China to our mailboxes for an almost-free postage expense. What is this world coming to? No more free stuff? Horrible............or "about time"? Wondering......Ed L. On April 2, Trump announced via an executive order that he would remove the de minimis tariff exemption loophole for packages costing less than $800 from China and Hong Kong. He said a 30% levy would be imposed on these packages from May 2. But on Tuesday, Trump tripled it to 90%. -- Ed Loizeaux Los Altos, CA www.nycvd.org

To divert where this is going, had I shared this with the group previously? Face it guys we have such a intertwined world, it's like a balloon--you squeeze one end and the other bulges out! unless any segment gets too greedy things can be worked out, but it seems like the pressure is coming from the wrong place at this time. We helped with international development, then when some of them find "our country" inviting we ship them out via prison flights. Watch the Godfather series and hundreds stories like it! We welcomed cheap labor for laying the Central Pacific then we passed laws against them. Let me address John H. here, I did photography for a Chinese machine tool manufacturer just a few years ago; they rented a large hall that filled with high-end tech tools for sale--so they do sell stuff! Over the last thirty years of covering many industrial segments--I've covered those clients from bio research to waste (yes sewage) management with outer space and food in the middle Most is available for sale by somebody for somebody else! Our mass producers decided to go offshore, set up production and reaped the rewards! Then those folks quickly learned how to do things on their own--what did we expect! I could go on but I'm still on a quest to get my layout up and running, and as many have mentioned talking to the choir will get you like-minded members of the same church and disagreements with most of the others! I've got to replace some 'blown off' vinyl siding--hurricanes do that sometimes!--on the second story for sure!, I wonder if Angie and her list members also might have a DCC wiring guy to source out what the H---I screwed up!! BTW most of Digitrax equipment is made here in Florida, but I bet the little parts come from elsewhere! Bob Werre Phototraxx The machinery is in China. They do not allow export of this, and tell Mr. Trump to build his own equipment in the US. Now what? And then maybe a final consideration. How much is made in S anyway? Are we all ready to buy the new double price flex track?

Stack Light (was Yes, the builder¡¯s plate # is correct.
I can't argue persuasively just from a limited memory of seeing stack light photos over the years¡ªand obviously there were instances of coal burners with them¡ªbut my conjecture is that I can't recall any use on roads that DIDN'T also use oil-burners. Now someone with better knowledge, or at least a better memory, will surely cite exceptions... While it is true that a competent fireman kept an eye on the stack as an indicator of fuel efficiency, I suspect an experienced one had a good feel, given the quality of the coal, how the fire was doing even without constant checking the color of the smoke. CONTACTING WILLIAM MORRIS
Hello William, ? Hello again most likely, We have probably talked before? My senior memory isn¡¯t good I am always keeping an eye out for: VINTAGE CAST METAL PARTS: BOLSTERS HI RAIL WHEELSETS CAST METAL FREIGHT TRUCKS MAYBE OTHER CAST METAL FREIGHT CAR PARTS? Love to see pictures to help me decide!!!! Yours in the hobby Roger Haag S Scale Man Hendersonville, NC On Apr 8, 2025, at 11:14 AM, Bob Werre <bob@...> wrote: ? Bill, Coming from a hardened seller of S equipment I am still feeling your pain as it's the same as mine! One seems to need photos, sometimes even when things seem to be NIB. I would think the stuff built by the "greats" would do better displayed to those who still might have a 401? With our ranks thinning along with financial uncertainty, the incline is now into rugged territory! I probably still hold 2-3 dozen items from two owners but I'm not in the mood! In the past several years I've cleared out a HOn3 layout of mostly brass power some wooden scratch structures, and some machine tools. It was a 6-8 month trip mostly uphill. Re-motored little C&S steam went quickly while typical NG buildings sold for peanuts eventually. Troxell's S layout was very large even after the estate sellers got rid of the boxed brass. This was well over a year's selling mostly from this list. What surprised me was that he had some really old 0 scale that went very well and sort of high. Couple all that with what I've been selling personally, then Billy Clicks' accumulation was even larger. I hope all this stops as these are good friends and I'd rather have them around talking and walking rather than my receiving a minor % commission! Bob Werre Phototraxx [Edited Message Follows] Anyone that needs something in particular in S Scale ? I have decided that my entire collection needs to be sold including new unused bench work and some sections of 3 former layouts. I have almost anything that was prototypical from most Northeastern / New England railroads during the period 1920 through 1955 all in S Scale. This includes about 250 Northeastern and Kinsman kits, and kits from all the major manufacturers along with about 150 SHS products and about 100 PRS kits left, trucks, buildings and building kits, bridges built and in kit form, many Walthers kits, much flex track mostly code 100 and 125, and some code 83 rail. Some very rare stuff - 0ver 250 locomotives both brass wood and SSL&S kits and scratch built by many of S scales former master builders. about 55 cars built by Bill Boucher 10 by Jim Konas and others. Also many many detail parts. Easier for me to ask what you are looking for specifically than list what I actually have. Please contact me by Private email right here on I o groups s scale. Please realize it may take me some time to get back to you due to still working 5 days a week. I will reply but only have so many hours a week to do so. This is mostly all SCALE not much hi-rail. All AF is junky bodies for conversion to scale. Thank you all Bill Morris Well apparently this method of my "shotgun" approach Is not working well since I have been inundated with emails all using the same subject header a reply to my post, and since most everyone wants to see what they are purchasing and request photos which I am terrible at doing BTW - looks like I need to do this differently. SO I will take photos of small "lots" of cars" and post the photos here in separate messages such as others have done. Looks like this will take years for me to complete doing. I am amazed no one wants original Kinsman kits especially the passenger cars or Ambroid snow plow kits.. SO OK I will now try the hard way for me to list all this stuff. Please if responding Change the subject line for your message to reflect what you want so I can find your message later on to reply to you. ThankS Bill Morris

airslide decals 15

Sunday Afternoon on the layout 2
Afternoon everyone, Off and on rain here, so down into the basement. RDG T1 #2107 going around I10 #2008, which helped make up it's train. Yes, that is code 148 AM rail. The layout is about 75% former 2x4 transportable modules built in the late 1980's/early 1990's. You can see one of the 4" 'Dutchman" pieces connecting the two sections. And , yes the eccentric rod on #2008 does need some shop time. Hope you all having some fun. Hugh
