If I'm not mistaken, Bill bought my
double stacks a few years back, and these were the original
Jackman/S scale America.? The kit included RB trucks and plastic
wheels.? Unfortunately the parts tree had a rough area where they
were attached.?? They were built with those purpose built RB
trucks which seemed a tad smaller than the Ace versions...aka
before AM/SHS versions.? Later on I asked Ron S.? if he had any of
those left.? He sent me handful of parts from which I made another
pair and a spare, perhaps--I used the enclosed plastic wheels at
first, but replaced them with NWSL metal versions.? I didn't have
any coupler problems.
I'll also mention that the RB trucks
had two versions.? The first ones were made thicker where they
attached to the bolster, the sideframes also didn't equalize.? The
second version had thinner cross sections and equalized.
Initially I did have height problems
with the spine cars.? I owned the sample set AM provided that I
bought later.? Ron B. sent me scale flanged wheels for those--I
was doing a lot of buying, selling, swapping, at that time!

Not sure how to answer you Bill.
The plastic wheels in the kit that I bought from
Bill Roberts measured to 33¡±. ?I used 33¡± wheels from American
Models. With your missive in my head I was curious as to what I
would find when I worked through the instructions and installed
the Kadee couplers in gear box part of the body spacer.?
As you can see in the pictures I sent, they work
with the gauge on the track at the back of my work desk and work
with the other stock on which I have Kadee couplers. I was
surprised given what you had commented.?
Some blow ups of that test track at the back of my
desk attached. Sorry, I do not have an exact pic of the car
mated to the gauge. ?There is also a very short snip of two of
them connected to my GP-35 with Kadee.?

I
am curious how a correct coupler height was achieved
with the first release car sand normal sized wheels. I
am running custom 26¡± wheels to lower the cars to
correct coupler height. With the built in draft gear
there is no way to make any changes. ?
