Big Change
I've listened to this song several times now. Every time I do, I starting wondering, did Neil see something that he can't describe in the song because it might scare us?? Or, did he see something and he really doesn't know what it is, so? he's not sure if its good or bad?? Or, is this just a generic song about change.? It's A, B, or C.? I'm going with B.??

I recently got some new external drives and migrated my digital music library. In that process a couple of Neil Young shows have corrupted files.?

Does anyone have lossless copies of these two shows that they could share?

Re: ISO 1983/1984 shows
I was at the Pine Knob Music Theatre show in Clarkston, MI to review the show for Variety in NYC.
?
Sat in front of Bob & Scott Young so I ended up in "Neil & Me" about that series of five shows.
Since the Pinks didn't play in Clarkston they asked me to review the Lansing Civic Center show
that was way closer to my house.??
?
If I'm not mistaken, that Lansing show was the longest of the tour and I sat with Bob & Scott
there also.? ?Scott and I became pen pals after that.? ?He knew my name but didn't use it as
a courtesy because Variety didn't use a byline.? In my case, it was Kelv, that was given to?
me by the editor.? ?Worked for them from 1979 to 1992 and it was a blast.?
?
Attached is a pretty big PDF of that show but I seem to remember something was goofy with
the type set.? ?That was back when someone used individual letters and spaces for the print. |

NNC : Iain Matthews book
开云体育As many of you will know, as well as being a huge Neil fan, I am also a big fan of Iain Matthews' music and have had the privilege of working with Iain and Cherry Red Records on box sets of his back catalogue albums for the past three years (more coming hopefully!). A book about Iain and his music over the years is set to be published later this year in October 2025 by Spenwood Books of Manchester, UK......see below. -----‐------ "Iain Matthews – A People’s History" will be a hardback book containing over 300 fan memories of seeing Iain in concert or encountering him over the years. Have you seen Iain in concert? Met him somewhere along the road? Got a favourite song of Iain’s that means something to you? We want to hear your memories. Every submission will be acknowledged, and as we approach publication, we’ll let you know if your story is going to be included in the final book. If you are sending us a story, around 400 words in length is ideal. If you’re sending us a gig memory, please include the date of the show if you can. If you’re sending photos, please ensure these are at least 300KB and please attach them as separate jpegs. Iain Matthews – A People’s History will be published in paperback by Spenwood Books on 24 October 2025. ISBN 978-1-915858-40-5. To share your Iain Matthews memory, please write to iainmatthewsbook@.... ------------ If anyone else on the Rust List knows Iain, has seen him in concert over the years or just plain likes his music, and wants to be involved in this excellent initiative then now is the time to send in your contributions as a deadline is looming. Get writing folks! Ron |

Strangely enough, from your list, only "Modern World" still shows up as "unreleased" at Sugar Mountain's site. Maybe the others were "released" for subscribers at NYA (even if still not properly released at an official album)?

Re: ABD CD covers - Memories
So many wonderful songs. Thanks so much for putting this together, Mike. I remember particularly liking Sad Movies (which I had wanted to hear after reading Johnny Rogan’s book, where he referred to the song as “Day and Night We Walk These Aisles”), Grey Riders, Johnny, Love Hotel, Berlin and If You Got Love (another song I had been longing to hear).

Re: ABD CD covers - Memories
Here is my original announcement about ABD 2000 from March 15, 2000. It comes from the email list Human Highway archive. Announcing?Archives Be Damned (ABD) 2000: ABD 2000?is a compilation of songs from throughout Neil Young’s career that have never been on albums and are not available today. ?It is an update of the original ABD with some songs removed because they are now on albums and dozens added. It is re-mastered re-sequenced, and includes a couple of tunes I had never heard before embarking on this project. The set is comprised of 5 cd’s. Right now, I’m planning on a strictly cdr distribution, though analog and/or mini-disc may be added later. It’s kind of lengthy and some of it doesn’t apply because it’s about analog tapes (note once again, ABD 2000 is in cd format!!) but there is some good info about trees at: There are?82 songs?on the 5 cd’s; look at the list at the end of this message. I also wrote some liner notes I’m planning on posting on a web site somewhere. I may need some help doing that, BTW. Inserts: inserts are being worked on but are not yet ready. I’m going to distribute the cd’s, then have the inserts available on-line when they are available. Print this message for a copy of the song list with dates and cities. I received an enormous amount of help collecting these tunes. First, I want to thank Steve Peck and everyone responsible for the original ABD collection. Mine is merely an update to what they put together five years ago; that compilation was the inspiration for this project. Several people dipped way into their music collections to help out. Especially helpful were: Kerry McVeigh, Braden Strickler, Bill Hodgson, Mike Kelsey, Chuck King, Shawn McCorkle. Also, I used?Tom Hambleton’s Sugar Mountain web site?and Pete Long’s book Ghosts On The Road extensively as references for dates of performances. Special thanks to Shawn McCorkle who was able to identify the version of Doghouse here based on Neilís spiel before the tune. Many more too numerous to list here offered suggestions and assistance. I thank you all. On Mon, Jan 27, 2025 at 7:39?AM paul bronstein via <pbronstein18=[email protected]> wrote: ABD2K was an eye?opener for me.? |
Re: ABD CD covers - Memories
ABD2K was an eye?opener for me.?
Who knew there was such a large trove of unreleased songs then?? I so much appreciated these 5 CDs and say thanks once more time to all those responsible. Mike? Here’s the Hyperrust rap on the original cassette version from a few years earlier: “Archives Be Damned The Rust List Version ofIn early 1995, long-time-Rusty Steve Peck got tired of waiting for Neil to get back to work on his archives.?(Neil has some nerve, being distracted with making us NEW albums every year! :-)?So he decided?"Archives be damned! We'll do it ourselves!" |
