Are you sure the IRF-510 is genuine? Lots of fake and fraudulent parts (transistors/FETs) on eBay. Most from china are fakes. Get one from Mouser, or Farnell. That way you know its real. 73, Jim

My guess is that the IRF510 output? FET is shorted due to reverse PS polarity or a static surge coming in on the antenna.? It is also possible that the diode that is meant to protect from reverse
