this classic rig. Steve has very neatly replaced an SBL-1 and the RX came to life but TX power was low.?
Actually on my set-up the output was a useful 1.25 Watts on 160, 1 W on 80 and about 0.7 W on forty. I can
actually live with these powers but clearly something is wrong. There is no output at all unless the bias pot. R18
is within a few degrees of full on. Turning the CW power pot. R21, power increases from zero to maximum over less
than half a turn and then remains constant for the remains of its travel. My current theory is that the PA is probably
working normally but the drive is insufficient. In support of this, the pre-driver Q9 seems to have been removed and?
bypassed. I am no engineer and wonder if anyone has come across this situation before? 73/72 John G0UCP
