Ah that packing gland! Sorry, all my PSC boats have been migrated to PYI Shaft Seals! Those who continue to use the stuffing box, generally go with the Teflon impregnated cord¡ Daryl

Those are the steps necessary to change the packing gland. It is the reverse order to reassemble. Do you have the deep keel or the Sheel keel? Boat has to be up high enough to drop the rudder. Daryl
