com0com

I am having difficulty having N3FJP recognizing my ICOM 7300. Would the program com0com be advisable? Thank you. Ken N2XY

Default files location
I use Dropbox to manage file sharing between multiple PCs. This includes my log files. This keeps my logs in one place, and backed up on the cloud. I use this for POTA and normal operations at the home QTH. I often switch between my own log and our club log for various events. By default (and I can't see where this is set in the registry), the location for the logs is set here: C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Affirmatech\N3FJP Software\ACLog My request is for a registry entry to save the last location of the log file and by default when you click "OPEN" it would redirect there to start. I have a workaround set up for this, but would rather just point the logs in the software to the right location. My workaround is a shortcut to the Dropbox folder in the "Documents" folder that I can click to redirect when opening the other log. If there's already a setting somewhere I haven't found, please let me know.

wsjtx and ac log not communicating
4
All was working well yesterday but when I turned on wsjtx and ac log tonight the enclosed message came up. Made one contact and the qso info did not go to ac log. Using vspe and both wsjtx and ac log are using the same port. Been doing that for months with no problems. Any ideas?

Multiple Operator Instances Within ACLog
9
Hi - been using ACLog for a year and love it. Full rig interface - works great. My wife recently passed her Technician, and has a separate TQSL Station Location - see pic. We use the same Shack, but would like to maintain separate instances of ACLog. Is this possible? Couldn't easily determine a solution. Thanks!

Can the rig interface be suspended and reactivated while switching batteries?
6
I often use QRP rigs and power them from batteries. Because of this, I may switch batteries several times over a weekend, or at least turn off the rig when I’m not going to use it for a while to avoid draining the battery needlessly. Of course, as soon as I shut it off, Windows sends an audible thunk because the com port disconnected and AC-Log will complain that it lost connection with the rig. Then when I’m ready to go again, I have to turn the rig on and go into the rig settings to re-enable polling for the connection to be established again. Is there a key sequence, sort of like the <ctrl> <shift> <r> that’ll tell ACLog to retry the currently configured rig after the port has been reactivated, in effect automating the Settings, Rig control, Test, Done steps? Thanks! Kevin, KE3V

AC Log Comment Field
11
Good Morning! I entered a comment in the Comments field when I logged an FT-8 QSO. Now that comment is replicated for each QSO I log! According to the on-line documentation, that can be stopped by unchecking Settings -> Carry Comments Data Forward I've done this and it doesn't help. Suggestions? 73 Mark K3MSB

Contest software

I noticed that there has been plenty of software created for contests; however, I also noticed that there are plenty of contests without a contest software. I also understand the difficulties of programming a software. But I was wondering if there's a way for a generic contesting software, where the user can put in the necessary exchange for the contest that your users (me) can use for the specific contest? -- Stephen Cullen Maple Grove Radio Club Vice President KF0AED "Keep your eyes on the sky, but your head out of the clouds."

N3FJP Country Files - 12 April 2025
There are new country files for ACLog and related software by N3FJP. To update the country files from the logging program menu, select: Files -> Download Country Files From AD1C You should download all three files. When done, you can re-start your logging program. Wishlist auto fill
6
#fields
I have a few callsigns on my wishlist on N3FJP software and I was able to click on the tab when it popped up and it would automatically fill in the callsign, date, frequency, and everything else it would do as if I clicked on a callsign when it was on the DX spots portion of the software. I now can't do that, I am hoping it's not because I don't have a rig interface. But could someone help me understand why it won't autofill when a callsign pops up on my wishlist? Thanks in advance to everyone for your thoughts. -- Stephen Cullen Maple Grove Radio Club Vice President KF0AED "Keep your eyes on the sky, but your head out of the clouds."

Does anyone know if there is a way to import an adif file so that it's done in date order. Currently every time I import a file I have to do file sort by date to get them all in date order.

Locked
New Call, or Not
2
With luck, I'll pass the Extra later this month. The decision is whether or not to get a new call. I can read all the instructions around about how to manage this with eQSL, QRZ, and LoTW, but there's also the real-world experience of dealing with the change, retiring a call held for more than 50 years, and wondering if it would be put into service again while I'm still pounding the key. I'd appreciate any thoughts, probably best off-line to avoid straying too far afield. 73 and Clear Skies, Brian D. Warner WB0NWZ

[N3FJPSoftwareUsers setup problem
3
I am a relatively new ham trying to setup my ACL software. My rig control interface indicates that my polling works so I know ACL is communicating with my Icom 7300. However when I go to WSJT-X I have a problem. When I go to WSJT settings the test cat button does not work and I get an error message that says my hamlib timed out. This is the message. I'm concerned I may have inadvertently deleted hamlib so I found a folder that looks like this. I apologize if I am asking this question in the wrong forum. I have been using ACL and like it even thought I know I have only scratched the surface of what it can do. Being 80 years old, it takes me a bit longer to learn things ? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

How to uninstall One Drive (WAS: Learned a Valuable Lesson!!)
2
I uninstall One Drive completely. You can disable it instead, if you wish, but I just got rid of the whole thing. Here's information on how to do that if you want to get rid of it: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/turn-off-disable-or-uninstall-onedrive-f32a17ce-3336-40fe-9c38-6efb09f944b0 You can't uninstall it in Windows 8 but you can disable it. It's all explained in the Microsoft article. Depending on what you want to to, there are links in the article that take you to other articles. I figured if I uninstalled it, I couldn't accidentally turn it back on. Donald KX8K

Importing ADIF file to confirm existing AC Contacts
Hello I have an ADIF File. I want to import that into AC Log and have AC Log check the "QSL Rec" bix and enter "L" in the "Rec Conf By" field. Can AC Log do this? 73 Mark K3MSB

Learned a Vaulable Lesson!!
22
Yesterday, my N3FJP Database started giving me some error messages. And that happened after I starting using Onedrive. What I have learned is backup your Database routinely. I was able to recreate most of my Log, and some of it is now gone. I don't believe there is a way you can download a file from EQSL or LOTW. If there is a way, that would be great. But most importantly backup your database weekly if possible. You never know when the ultimate issue may occur. Mark KB3Z
