Re: Upgrade idea, watch list

Hi Steve.? I’m assuming you use the Watch List for needed countries (i.e.:? you’re a DX’er).? If so why not just set up DX Spotting for your new ones.? Kimberly use (used) to alert me all the time for new ones.? I rarely hear from her any more but that’s OK because my boss (the XYL) got tired of hearing “Needed Spot” all the time.

Hi Scott,

I was thinking how much I love the watch list feature and it would be great if there was a way to say automatically load all the stations mentioned in the ARRL Dx bulletin or one of the other DX bulletins into the watch list. Thanks for a great program!

Thanks for the reply Tom. I just changed my back up file to folder DOCUMENTS instead of the SD care. Then I will save the mdb file to the SD card. You think this is a better idea?

You should have it save to your computer and have the backup files saved to the SD card.

Also, are you having ACLog do the backup or are you trying to do it manually?

That also could be your problem.

I have run into a problem with my backup of ACLOG. I have it set now that every time I close the program I have it backed up to a SD card. I was using a flash drive but that didn't seem to work. My problem is that when I turn on my computer the .mdb file is corrupt. So I have to go back 1 day and load from there which means all? qso's from the previous day are not there. I am a avid POTA chaser and I keep a hand written copy of all the qso's I made the day before.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: N3FJP will not work with JTAlert

JoAnn,
Thanks for a nice short sweet to the point with pictures on how to get N3FJP, WSJT and JTAlert talking to each other.?
The major confusion to this whole event was the IP Address and Server Address.
Once you get that taken care of it doesn't take long to fix it.
Most software programs do not include a Help File with directions to help the average person to get the software working without having to read through pages and pages of worthless stuff.
And then there are the ones who are writing back, did you read all of the instruction file? There used to be a guy who was great at writing help files to get Ham Radio Software to work with Ham Radio Hardware.
And if for some unknown reason it didn't work and you wrote him back, his catch all question was did you read and follow the step by step instructions?
I must confess, I'm not big on Large Help Files. Basically Short, Sweet and to the point with pictures is all I need. You did that, and thanks so much.

Re: N3FJP will not work with JTAlert

Larry,
that's why everything works. When I didn't activate N3FJP AC Logger, JTAlert and WSJT did communicate with each other. But when you throw N3FJP AC Logger into the equation, then it doesn't.

Hi Mark,

WSJT-X does rig control.
JTAlert listens to WSJT-X using the standard UDP stuff -- no multicast.
JTAlert logs to ACLog (settings >> Logging >> ACLog)
I DO NOT have ACLog "listening" to WSJT-X.???

All I need to know is in N3FJP was IP and Server Address are you using?
Also, What IP Address and Server Address are you using in WSJT to communicate with N3FJP? Are you only using a primary IP and Server Address, or are you using the Secondary Also?
Finally What IP Address and Server Address are you using in JTAlert under Applications? I don't think you need to setup an IP and Server address under logger and AC Log.
If I had those, I could get it to work also.
Thanks!

Yes, but you need to hit the log contact button. My N3FJP will automatically log the contact from WSJT without having to push log contact button.

I'm talking about configuring N3FJP ACLog to listen to WSJT-X.

I configure WSJT-X to send UDP packets to the same 224.0.0.73 port 2237 address, and the contacts show up automatically in ACLog when I click the "Log Contact" button in WSJT-X.

Where is this "Listen for WSJT-X box"? Is it in Wsjtx? Are you meaning
the "Accept UDP Requests" setting? If so, that is not needed unless you
want Wsjtx to respond to JTAlert callsign clicks and accept decode
coloring instructions. The JTAlert instructions default to having that
setting enabled to keep it simple for new users

I use 224.0.0.73, port 2237, and it works a treat.? Note that the Listen for WSJT-X box also needs to be ticked.

224.0.0.73 is the unofficial official multicast IP address to use for WSJT-X.? Due to how multicast works, the address cannot actually be part of your local subnet, but it still all works.

224.0.0.123 is not a valid private IP address.

The address should be 127.0.0.1

Re: CQ WPX RTTY This Weekend!

Hi Bo,

Thanks for your e-mail.? I can't speak to how FLDigi internally retrieves the next serial to send, but N7YG Digital Engine reads it right from our CQ WPX log.? The Macros I use with N7YG Digital Engine are here:

I also have a file of my macros at the page above that you can import right in to Digital Engine and then modify as needed, rather than having to start from scratch.

I suspect other FLDigi users here will be able to provide more insights on that program, but if not, there will certainly be more specific help on the FLDigi users group.

Enjoy!
