Re: SAO on G2
Hi Erik, Only the RA has limits...none on DEC. You set these...see the attached PDF. You should be able to slew the RA away from the limit, and free up the Gemini to work as it should. Try it in

SAO on G2
Two questions: 1. Like a lot of you, I'm interested in testing double star limits and, thanks to Sonny's very helpful "Tonight's Sky" suggestion, I drew up a brief observing list for last night.

Re: Titan East Side Heavy
That was the other side of the coin. Scott has helped engineer out the need for biasing. Little to no backlash to begin with, yet the worm can reliably compensate for any run out of the gearing. BTW,

Re: Titan East Side Heavy
Thanks Paul, Makes sense now. And I have seen the pulleys counterweight systems some use. I think a lot of the reason I've gotten away with as near balanced RA and Dec so far is because my OTA is so

I simply think of East as the side of the mount that is rising or going up.

Re: Polemaster or Sharpcap? how about both
Rick Generally I agree, but as Chip pointed out, there is a downside to the sharpcap approach that is, i have to wait until later in the evening to get enough stars so sharpcap can plate solve. with

Re: Titan East Side Heavy
Sonny you have spring-loaded worms, so you don't need to worry about biasing your weight :)

Re: Polemaster or Sharpcap? how about both
Amy Astro on YouTube just reviewed both the Polemaster and SharpCap. Frankly, SharpCap is so easy to polar align with I can¡¯t see the point in buying a polemaster. Amy agreed. -- Rick Paul Tucson,

Re: GoTo Speed
Erik, if 800x speed works well for you with prolonged slewing, then by all means set the goto speed to 800x. These speeds don't have to be the same, but those who run automated imaging sessions may

Sonny, Imagine a vertical plane passing through your mount and North and South poles. A wall. Anything on the east side of that wall should be slightly heavier than anything on the west side. When

Re: Titan East Side Heavy
Hi Chuck, Possibly. If it's just the density of the grease that's causing the stiffness, then it might help keep the worm wheel from suddenly jumping between the worm teeth. Any other kind of

GoTo Speed
A quick question: The slewing speed on my new G-2 is factory set at 800. Should the go-to speed be the same. I lowered the go-to to 500 to offset a stall alert which I later discovered was something

Re: Rotational Play in GM811G RA?
Okay I had the same perceived issue with this myself Brian, is right about this movement everything is OK. If you remove the DEC section then try to rotate the RA plate by hand if you cant it's good

East heavy always bothered me a bit. There is no East in outer space.... 8^) Besides, once the mount RA is West of the meridian, a little or a lot, where is your East heavy then? I fully understand

There is a version of Polemaster software for Mac. It is very buggy, though. They say you can get it to work by disabling the "Retina Display" checkbox before launching it. I tried that, but it still
