Re: Gemini 2 Unable to Connect Telescope via Direct Ethernet
Astronut: Just wanted to report on my latest?Desktop PC W10 fix. I downloaded the latest mfgr's driver before using a new Ethernet to USB Adapter. The TAP interfaces were useless. Network Connections and the Ethernet Adapter are illustrated below. Direct Ethernet Connect works just fine now with the?Desktop PC. Thanks to Losmandy users for an informative conversation.? Even if it's at the zenith it's pretty faint and needs a lot of integration time. I started a mosaic 3 years ago and added to it. It's 4 panels to date:?? Re: New Tutorial video - wavy washer upgrade
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýBrian, you have been totally awesome, I probably would have sold my G11G awhile back without your help, but I know that it is truly the Last GEM mount that I need and is that forever mount. My next purchase from Losmand is a AZ8 mount for a
grab and go. No electronics or computers with this one. Discussions on CN are like all Losmandy products, it is over built. And they are made here in the U.S.A. getting you on the Losmandy team was one of the best moves that Scott, has made. One of your best
traits is the patience to deal with knuckleheads? like me. LOL....

Deric i'm glad to be of any assistant to you and everyone. the goal is awesome astronomy/astrophotography! :)
>>> My biggest issue with the G11G is thinking that it should opperate like my last mount, and they do not.?
This is also the biggest tech support issue we have: a lot of assuming that Losmany mount should work like (fill in the blank of the last mount someone had) and the biggest challenge for many is unlearning that. you are definitely not alone there

Re: New Tutorial video - wavy washer upgrade
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHello Taylor?
?I did to for the same reason, I was able to move Counterweights up by nearly 2" and that's a lot.
And learned that I did not have to tighten down the clutches hard unlike my last mount. I have a G11G with the tucked motors and spring loaded worms. And it was really weird to have play in the RA. Brian, has been a big help trying to convince
every one that this is normal. It feels like this play in the RA should not be normal. But you know Brian is right, tracking is not effected one little bit. My biggest issue with the G11G is thinking that it should opperate like my last mount, and they do not.
But now everything working like a Daisey now. Mostly thanks to Brian.

Thanks for the reply Brian.?
Deric, I believe I needed it. When I got to the point of balancing the RA, it was difficult to tell which side was heavy. I would give a small push in each direction and the RA would rotate without favoring a side. I would change location of the weight and rotation of the RA wouldn't really change as far as a weight bias. Now the RA is rotating smoothly and not as "sticky". |

Thanks to Losmandy and this community for a great product and support!
I recently have been having some great success with my Losmandy G11 G2 and PHD2 that has produced some images that I am very happy with. This is in large part because of the support I have received in troubleshooting various things from both Losmandy and PHD2, and the communities on this forum. Current successes: I had some of the best guiding ever as I imaged Messiers 63 and 101 with my Celestron 8SE, and an OAG at 1457mm. I was actually consistently guiding nearly as low as my pixel scale, (=/- .555"/px), and sometimes better, which is rare for my turbulent skies. This affirmed that the equipment and software delivers if the seeing conditions permit it. Please see these images here: and . I was able to image Rho Ophiuchi and Messier 4 at 355mm/ 2.3"/px and my Stellarvue SVX090T-3SV, and my mount and PHD2 kept my guiding at +/- .95"-1.2" in winds gusting up to 20 miles per hour with less than desirable seeing compounded by this relatively low altitude object. The result for that is here: Thanks y'all! -Anthony |

Re: New Tutorial video - wavy washer upgrade
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHello Taylor,
Are you sure you needed the wavy washer? I needed one it made balancing? things easier. I just tighten my RA just enough so it does not move easily. I've learned that it does not take very much.
It is interesting that A test concluded that the amount of tightening does not affect the performance.
Thank you Brian, for that tid bit.

Hi Taylor
I suggest tightening it by hand until the RA axis stops moving easily. The amount of tightening does not impact RA performance (we've recently?tested this) but you there's no need to crank it down.?

I have the GM811. When tightening before the wavy washer, the clutch wouldn't need to be very tight to actually have enough pressure for the RA to stop rotating. With the wavy-washer I have to really tighten the RA axis clutch to stop it from rotating. About how much pressure should I be trying to rotate the RA axis to call it good? Kind of hard to quantify. I usually have one hand rotating the RA head and the other tightening the clutch.? Brian?

Re: GM811G Worm Period?
That is incorrect. I¡¯ll let ray knowOkay thanks! FWIW, for any of the Gemini equipped mounts the worm period does not need to be entered because the worm period is calculated from mount settings on the Gemini controller. That is, whatever worm period value you enter in PEMPro will get overridden when you connect to a Gemini-equipped mount, so there is no reason to set worm period manually. However, you should be sure to set the correct mount type in the Gemini controller so that PEMPro will be able to set the correct worm period. -Ray Gralak Author of APCC (Astro-Physics Command Center): Author of PEMPro V3: Author of Astro-Physics V2 ASCOM Driver: -----Original Message----- |

Re: GM811G Worm Period?
Hi Jim,? ( as Brian noted... just saw that)... Worm period only applies to the RA for sidereal tracking. That is a G11 size RA section, so the worm period for the G11 and GM811 is ~4 minutes, or the 239.34 sec. We have quite a good chorus going!
