I recently have been having some great success with my Losmandy G11 G2 and PHD2 that has produced some images that I am very happy with.
This is in large part because of the support I have received in troubleshooting various things from both Losmandy and PHD2, and the communities on this forum.
Current successes:
I had some of the best guiding ever as I imaged Messiers 63 and 101 with my Celestron 8SE, and an OAG at 1457mm. I was actually consistently guiding nearly as low as my pixel scale, (=/- .555"/px), and sometimes better, which is rare for my turbulent skies. This affirmed that the equipment and software delivers if the seeing conditions permit it. Please see these images here: and .
I was able to image Rho Ophiuchi and Messier 4 at 355mm/ 2.3"/px and my Stellarvue SVX090T-3SV, and my mount and PHD2 kept my guiding at +/- .95"-1.2" in winds gusting up to 20 miles per hour with less than desirable seeing compounded by this relatively low altitude object. The result for that is here:
I am grateful to Brian V., Michael H., Tania and Scott, and others, for all of their assistance in sorting things like mirror drift, (Celestron warranty), mount balance, PEC, and many other issues along the way. I am sure I'll have more questions, but I feel like I am on my way as far as mount tracking and guiding go for now.
Thanks y'all!
