Re: Losmandy Mount for RASA 11?

G11 is rated for 60lb imaging, 75lb visual

I did a presentation with Woodland Hills Telescope not too long ago where i posted my guidelogs on my G11. I'm imaging around 840mm with an OAG and get around 0.6" guiding here in urban?los angeles.?

the part of my presentation starts here, i think the guidelogs are in the description or chat?

That may help, or be a total waste of time, in which case i apologize in advance ;)

I have my 11 RASA easily accommodated by my G11. I get perfectly round stars 99.9% of the time (FWHM 1.4 or better) with a 325mm guide scope, PHD, and no PEC.

Arguably the G11 isn¡¯t quite large enough ¨C it¡¯s rated for 50lbs IIRC.? If your rig weighs 60lbs or so then a G11T (75lbs) or a used Titan (100lbs IIRC) would be more the thing.

Subject: [Losmandy_users_io] Losmandy Mount for RASA 11?

?

Hi folks:

First time poster here but I have been reading for a while. I have been considering a Losmandy mount for some time now and after problem after problem with mass produced mounts, I want to give Losmandy a try. I have a few questions for you and hopefully you can provide feedback based on your experience.

I¡¯m 100% an astrophotographer so the mount would never be used for planetary or visual, just DSO AP. My latest rig is a fully loaded RASA 11¡± V2 with 6200MM and a 72mm APO guidescope on top. The rig weights about 60lbs. The setup benefits from a relatively high image scale of 1.25¡± per pixel. Also, I have migrated to the ASIAIR Pro and use that solely as my controller for both camera and mount. I have little clear sky time and need a mount that works out of the box with no tweaking and no fuzz.

Looking at the Losmandy line, weight and cost not a problem, why would be your recommendation? I would prefer data and PHD2 graphs from APers with larger setups if possible.

Thanks so much for your input,

Roger
