Losmandy Mount for RASA 11?
Hi folks: I¡¯m 100% an astrophotographer so the mount would never be used for planetary or visual, just DSO AP. My latest rig is a fully loaded RASA 11¡± V2 with 6200MM and a 72mm APO guidescope on top. The rig weights about 60lbs. The setup benefits from a relatively high image scale of 1.25¡± per pixel. Also, I have migrated to the ASIAIR Pro and use that solely as my controller for both camera and mount. I have little clear sky time and need a mount that works out of the box with no tweaking and no fuzz.?
Thanks so much for your input, |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýArguably the G11 isn¡¯t quite large enough ¨C it¡¯s rated for 50lbs IIRC.? If your rig weighs 60lbs or so then a G11T (75lbs) or a used Titan (100lbs IIRC) would be more the thing. ? David ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of leroy

I have my 11 RASA easily accommodated by my G11. I get perfectly round stars 99.9% of the time (FWHM 1.4 or better) with a 325mm guide scope, PHD, and no PEC. John

Hi Roger,
This was where I came before getting my GM811G. I'm fairly strictly AP myself. I do DSO imaging, Nebula specifically. So my needs are different. I say fairly strictly because I have done a few peeps visually, and some DSLR comet shooting of Neowise. But other than that, strictly AP. It's always been my point and reason. It has never been said that a mount was too big for a use. But often, I think folks might undersize their mounts. My 811 is rated for 50 pounds. My equipment from the clamp up is 17.5 pounds. Well under weighted. For your specifications, I'd say a would be your mount of choice. Its rating is a 75 pound Photographic Instrument. A has a rating of 60 pounds Photographic instrument. As far as I know, from the G11 up the mounts all use the Heavy Duty Tripods. Which can hold up a tank. I went the extra for mine and got the HD mount. Rock solid. And the quality Scott Losmandy personally puts into all of his mounts is unsurpassed. Oh, and here is a mount comparison chart:? -- SonnyE (I suggest viewed in full screen) |
G11 is rated for 60lb imaging, 75lb visual I did a presentation with Woodland Hills Telescope not too long ago where i posted my guidelogs on my G11. I'm imaging around 840mm with an OAG and get around 0.6" guiding here in urban?los angeles.? the part of my presentation starts here, i think the guidelogs are in the description or chat? That may help, or be a total waste of time, in which case i apologize in advance ;) On Sat, Oct 24, 2020 at 6:14 PM John Nassr via <jnassr2010=[email protected]> wrote:

Roger, You will love it. It is a perfect match for the 11 RASA. I know because I have both a G11 and 11 RASA. John
