Re: 2023 Snowpack
Currently, snow sensors close to the JMT are tracking equal to or exceeding 2017, and for the few with data back to the winter of 82/83 they are general equal. Big start to winter!

Re: 2023 Snowpack
1983 was the year Alpine Meadows ski resort had their avalanche session. The whole ridge broke during one storm. The result:

Re: 2023 Snowpack
Yes, it is a bit too early to tell. It's not the snowpack percentage as of
this date that you want to look at, but rather April 1st. That
comparison, especially as we get get closer to it, will

Waayy too early to predict. It is predicted to settle down at the end of the month, but the future still is not known.
I use OpenSummit for my hiking weather app. It gives snow pack information and

Re: 2023 Snowpack
Too early to tell. The storms could stop rolling in next week, and the temps could go up and melt everything, or it could keep snowing and there could be a cold Spring and none of the snow would

2023 Snowpack
Saw today¡¯s Sierra snowpack data - as of today the Southern Sierra snowpack is 257% of normal. I grew up in California and can¡¯t remember another January like this except maybe in the early 80s

Re: Horseshoe meadows to onion valley trailhead
Hi Andrew
I got Cottowood Pass to Kearsarge pass (which is your reverse). From what
I see, entering Kearsarge pass is easier to get a permit, particularly on
Wed, Thu through Sat. In fact, there

Hi Andrew
I helped another friend get permits today. Hitting "prev 5 days" and "next

the entries you made intact and

My name and emails are all saved in recreation.gov. You should setup the
account, credit card etc up front. You don't have to enter that. You can
choose permit type, date and group size a few minutes

Are you able to enter your information like name and number in your party before 7 am and then at 7 am pick your trailhead or does it all start at 7 am?
