Re: Who made these HV cap kits for the PS2000?
DonTo preserve to me means to protect or maintain an item so that it is useful.? I think that car collectors have no problem using unleaded gas or a blended motor oil (or a synthetic) as opposed to

Re: Who made these HV cap kits for the PS2000?
Jim, yes, well mostly! and I cannot find real fault with what you said, unless I quibble. I was only responding to the idea of ¡°best¡± ESR, and then drifted of course.. a little The second topic of

Re: HT-44 noise on microphone input
What is the nature of this noise, describe please. Is this a conventional unbalanced, high impedance mic line? If so the shield is also the return side of the circuit and MUST be connected at both

Re: HT-44 noise on microphone input
What I found in engineering texts on audio is to use three wire connections (for balanced low impedance) where the third wire carries the ground through from source to destination but the shield is

Re: HT-44 noise on microphone input
While that's true, I've found other engineering papers on why that's not necessary in a situation where there is a single enclosure or chassis.? In some cases, it's supposedly much better to ground

Re: HT-44 noise on microphone input
Quite often shielded wires are grounded on only one end. This is to prevent loop currents in the shield. This is common for wires carrying very low-level signals. Walt Cates, WD0GOF

HT-44 noise on microphone input
Still working on trying to cleanup the noise in my SSB mode signal.? I found one bad .001 cap in the audio chain before the balanced modulators with Walt's advice.? But, that didn't fix my noise

DonToo much is attributed to ESR in boat anchor radio power supplies.? It is a red herring from my point of view.?? If a low ESR capacitor was not specified in the radio's part list than just how

This is the FOURTH cap I have received for this radio. Not one of them are the same. This is the only new broadcast type cap still made today.? It's smaller. It says 600 vac.? 400pf a section or so.

"Just a metal can with regular caps stuck inside", this is exactly what can caps always were. The can may have been filled with wax but were nothing special. Now, there are caps in metal cases that
