Re: Who made these HV cap kits for the PS2000?

On one of my 2000s the Can cap was shorted.? I had no choice but to install two caps under the chassis.? I used some amazon Chinese 47MFD 450 volt caps I had on hand.? I was a bit nervous and just thought I would change them out to a proper can cap at some point.?

They run ice cold.? After hours of use I gunned the caps and even touched them.? I dont notice any heat past what is in the chassis.?

These Chinese amazon caps physically vent at 600V.? ?I tested one out of curiosity when I got the order a few years back.? I ramped up the old CAP tester and when it hit around 600v, it let the smoke out.? ?I left it on for half hour at 450 with no issue.? ?I have a string of these guys in one of my 516 Collins supplies.? Its been running under the desk for 4 years now.

I have the Hayseed cap on the way. I can measure it when It shows up.? I also have the CE 50/50 Can cap. I ordered it thinking it would fit. It does not.? ?I can measure it.? Its really nice. I decided to keep it. I am sure I will find a use at some point.

I have used the hayseed caps for years.? Its just a metal tube with regular caps stuck inside.? I have not had a failure in 7 or 8 years of using them.? The only thing that does happen is the top metal disk will pop off from heat. I found several floating around inside the rigs.? Its just glued on.?

I understand that CE is actually making a real can capacitor.? They claim to have the original Malory machinery.?
