Re: SX-101 MK 3 Basic Questions
When I got my novice ticket in 1975 my wife bought me a HT32A/SX101A. After upgrading to general class like a idiot I sold them. Always regret that. When I moved last year from Phoenix to Ohio I set my sights on finding builders. This wonderful ham in Indiana was selling several HT32's. I picked the best one. He also told me he had a SX101a. Thought I had died and gone to heaven. Lol.

It's always great when another old rig gets back on the air. Hopefully the younger generations will keep it going. Nothing better than the look of tubes glowing and the smell of old electronics. Lol

Re: SX-101 MK 3 Basic Questions
开云体育Charles, ? I will certainly be following your progress on the SX-101.? I just recently purchased an SX-100 MK 1A that was advertised as not being turned up for 18 years. The pictures of the unit look nice, faceplate looks very good, and so does the chassis with minimal surface rust in some spots.? However, the real proof is when I physically see it; due to arrive this Thursday.? I figure you have to start somewhere as none of these older rigs will come in pristine condition, unless it has already been restored. I have another rig on the bench right now, so the SX-100 will have to wait till I finish that one up.? But at least I can pull it out of the box and give it a good once over, as well as order a recap kit for it. ? Thank you, ? Mike W5CUL ? SR-75 Coil Winding Data
开云体育Thanks Don, ? The SR-75 coil data is as follows: ? Form length is 2.375” Diameter 1.375”, Thickness is .05” ?4 holes are drilled to accommodate 6-32 screws, two on each end at the spacing of the jacks on the chassis and two more to allow for the insertion of a small solder lug? that the coil wire is attached to. A spacer bar is also used for the 80 and 20 meter coils where a cap is attached t the center banana pin. It’s not used on 40 and 10 meters. ? The banana plugs are Pomona #3265 available from the usual suppliers. I bought mine from Mouser. ? 10 meter coil is 1.28 uh and 6 turns of #18 tinned copper 20 meter coil is 4.3 uh and 12 turns of #18 “ 40 meter coil is 10.3 uh and 20 turns of #18” 80 meter coil I have no means to measure but it is 26 turns of #22 enameled copper wire ? The inductance was provided by Chris Farley who provided pictures which I can forward to anyone who needs to see the construction. ? The 80 meter coil I made has the correct number of turns but the original seems to have had some wider spacing however both work the same as near as I can tell. ? I have extra coil forms already drilled if anyone needs them. I have extra screws and 3/8” nylon spacers as well. I built a coil winder out of scrap material which seems to work pretty well. The coils were sealed with polyurethane. ? I hope this provides enough info for anyone to reproduce them. My email is nj2r@... ? 73, Roger, NJ2R ? Thank you, Bill and Chuck.
Have purchased the re-cap from Hayseed as well. No doubt the SX is the heaviest radio I have tackled yet. Rebuilding my work bench currently for a bit more room. Very excited about getting the better of the two SX back to operation. Both are fairly clean, one has a bit cleaner looking chassis. Previous owner said they were working fine ten year ago. 73 Charles |

Re: HT-17 and SR-75 Coil Data
I can't really help you but..
I fixed an SX-117 that had a couple fried coils. I disassembled them.? It was easy to count the turns including a secondary winding. The paper form itself was charcoal but I found a throw-away give-away pen was the exact same diameter so I used that. It worked great again when I was done. |

HT-17 and SR-75 Coil Data
Hello Everyone,
I am new to the group here. I am helping rebuild an HT-17 and an SR-75, and was hoping someone could help me with coil data. What I am looking for is either winding data or an inductance value for the following: HT-17: 40m, 15, and 10m coils SR-75: 80m, 40m, 20m, and 10m coils The likelihood of finding these as complete units is pretty low, so we are going to make our own. Any information would be appreciated! 73, Randy, VE6RGU |

Congratulations on acquiring the Sx101's. I absolutely love mine. You should only need to remove the 8 screws on the front to remove the chassis. It's quite heavy. I purchased my capacitor kit from Hayseed Hamfest. My faceplate was in excellent shape so I can't help you with that. Good luck with your restoration.

SX-101 MK 3 Basic Questions
Charles
Hello
?
And thank you for allowing my participation in the Hallicrafters Group.
Have been in amateur radio quite a while and restored several Swans, Hammarlund, Heathkit and Hallicrafter. ?
After wishing for an SX for some time,? obtained two SX-101 MK3 in fairly good condition, same owner for 15 years.
?
Best to ask before doing something regretful, so three basic questions.
?
1. How to remove chassis from cabinet, I see four screws on the bottom of the case, along with those on front panel ?
?
2 How to remove Front Panel, as glass has dropped down on one SX ?
?
3 Does anyone have a Mk 3 schematic to share that can be enlarged for old eyes ?
?
Thanks to all.
Charles
