E4402B SA power problem - need DC socket connections
I have an E4402B spectrum analyser with an odd power fault.? The SA powers down after about 10 minutes, but works fine up until then. (It has been working well in the past but has been unused for a

Are you testing them at their rated voltage?

Re: Cleaning N-tyoe cal kit
Hello, I have the same issue with my calibration kits, the foam got very sticky and the majority of the connectors are affected. Some had a dust cap and only the exterior was affected and it cleaned

Re: Cleaning N-tyoe cal kit
Possibly, although I'd be concerned about immersing it in the cleaning solution.

Cleaning N-tyoe cal kit
Not strictly Agilent/HP, but I recently bought a 2nd hand N-Type cal kit for the 3 HP VNA's I have. I did originally want a new kit from Kirkby Microwave, but after 3 or 4 emails over the course of a

Re: display tilt adjustment hp8591a
Hi Wilko, You are right, CRT screens are sensitive to the environment; steel, magnetic field of other devices if they are nearby, gravity...but I found the cause. When I noticed the display problem,

Re: display tilt adjustment hp8591a
You do not per chance have a steel workbench or similar? As I have found out the hard way ages ago (i.e. during my education) such an environment can affect tube trace alignment. Rotating the monitor

Pat, I had thought about that too, but when I received it, the curve was reversed on the other side with an even larger angle. Then after a power cycle, the screen looked like what the image

Re: display tilt adjustment hp8591a
Yves -? I suspect that's likely a magnetically deflected display, like a television, and has a deflection yoke on the CRT neck that's somehow managed to get rotated slightly. -Pat ?

display tilt adjustment hp8591a
Hi, I repaired an 8591A for a friend, but the display on his screen isn't perfectly straight. I'm guessing there's an adjustment for that, but where is that adjustment? There are adjustments

Re: OPT 003 (48-440 Hz compatible) fan (full size "Muffin" type fan) - replacement requirements?
Have both 8660B and 8660C; I was aware of the thermal issues with the 8660B (I believe it was in the pre-LSTTL era as I understand). It lives in a basement (lowest floor) workshop and fortunately is

After doing some testing yesterday, I discovered that the 8481A that was to be the recipient of the dead 8485A's connector etc. assembly was itself dead (8481A won't zero and responds about 20 dB down

I think it is likely to work - BUT, the assembly and disassembly will be (at lest) challenging. The thermistors may be similar, and possibly the thermistor board in the cartridge (you need to check

Re: OPT 003 (48-440 Hz compatible) fan (full size "Muffin" type fan) - replacement requirements?
If it is from a 8660, don't be tempted to go with a lower power fan, HP had some reliability problems with early 8660A & 8660B, this lead to them offering a free upgrade to a larger size fan in 1974

Robert, Adrian - thank you both for adding to discussion - this information helps because I also have OPT 003 in old HP 8660 series synthesizer (also very heavy machine) so good to have these
